Sorry, but in spite of my lust for one of Bert Levy's "Too smart for
NASCAR; Too dumb for opera" T-shirts, I have to say that NASCAR is
*not* on the same level as the WWE (*formerly* known by the same
acronym as the World Wildlife Federation who won their lawsuit to get
the moron 'wrestlers' to change their name)! While the *fan base*
might bear a passing resemblance to a wrasslin' crowd, the cars, the
racing, and the *industry* do not. [Well, there *is* the France
family, too. Gettin' out on a limb here, am I?] While NASCAR might
fairly be termed 'Racing for Dummies', WWE is a 'sport' for the
lobotomized.

They pull in 200,000 fans at their events almost every weekend(and
almost beating the nfl ratings on tv). Everyone stands up, takes their
hat off, a pastor leads them to a prayer. They have a military flyby at
every event while the national anthem is being sang. They promote faith,
family, and our troops. They also give a lot of money to many charities.
Some of the technology in todays cars have come from Nascar and other
motorsports. A lot of safety innovations along with how our cars run and
handle better(better oils, tires, engines, brakes, the list goes on).
Those safety bars in car doors you've seen lately in some cars came from
Nascar. It's a big list. Most people who watch Nascar know how to handle
a car and know how to drive safely. They know it's not a cartoon and go
out and try to imitate these guys.
They've come a long way from when they were moonshiners trying to get
away from the police. As how NASCAR was first started.

inovative people around. From putting on a good show to making these
cars do incredible things. I agree it's kind of like a soap opera.
Hell..general life is a soap opera. All sports, tv shows, church, work,
etc...

Well, maybe to you and me, but not to everybody. The media was
reporting that story after 9/11, although they never said it was true.
Major universities in the US had professors who supported that theory.
Hell, it isn't that far off from what the liberals are claiming, which
is that the CIA/Bush/republicans did it.
