A Year Spent Further Defining Madness
by Kevin Gosztola
It was a good year for madness.
Madness found the chance to manifest itself in many forms.
Some would say too many, others would say not enough.
Those who would say not enough would probably not think of it as
madness like we do.
The madness began on January 12th in Bush’s State of the Union speech
when he laid the groundwork for what would be another tumultuous year
for our troops in the Middle East:
http://www.informationclearinghouse.info/article16149.htm
…Succeeding in Iraq also requires defending its territorial integrity
and stabilizing the region in the face of extremist challenges.
This begins with addressing Iran and Syria.
These two regimes are allowing terrorists and insurgents to use their
territory to move in and out of Iraq.
Iran is providing material support for attacks on American troops.
We will disrupt the attacks on our forces.
We'll interrupt the flow of support from Iran and Syria.
And we will seek out and destroy the networks providing advanced
weaponry and training to our enemies in Iraq...
Americans realized Bush’s New Year’s Resolution was not to promote
peace on Earth.
The president in less than a minute sent a signal to the American
people that Iraq would not be over anytime soon and that the war might
be expanding into other areas in the Middle East.
The method for stalling any end to the Iraq war became threatening an
illegal war on Iran.
By threatening war with Iran, it forced Democrats to question the
accepted "truth" that Iran was developing a nuclear weapon and would
be an "imminent threat" if not responded to.
It divided the anti-war bloc in America because some against the war
in Iraq were not against taking on Iran.
Just days after the State of the Union speech, a White House meeting
was held between Cheney, Gates, Rice, and other assistants on
attacking Iran.
http://www.informationclearinghouse.info/article16169.htm
It was decided that the attack would “be launched from the sea and
Patriot missiles will guard all oil-producing countries in the region”
and involved no plan to “compromise or negotiate with Syria or Iran.”
A day later Bush signed a clandestine directive “against Iranian
officials and Revolutionary Guards officers behind a support and
funding network for anti-American fighters in Iraq.”
http://www.telegraph.co.uk/news/main.jhtml?xml=/news/2007/01/14/wirq114.xml
Under this directive, they raided an Iranian "liaison office"
“detaining five men.”
http://www.telegraph.co.uk/news/main.jhtml;jsessionid=GV50KFJDATR0HQFIQMGSFGGAVCBQWIV0?xml=/news/2007/01/12/wiraq12.xml
The madness continued despite the objections to the thought of a
possible war with Iran.
Peter Pace, a marine general, continued to refuse to lie for the Bush
administration on Iran
http://www.informationclearinghouse.info/article17068.htm and
continued to say what he had been saying since March, which was that
Iran was not involved in Iraq.
http://www.informationclearinghouse.info/article16154.htm
It was found out that Karl Rove had rejected a peace offer from Iran.
http://www.democracynow.org/2007/2/26/ex_congressional_aide_karl_rove_personally
The build up to a new war also began to seem all too familiar
http://www.informationclearinghouse.info/article17002.htm as analysts,
scholars, and average Americans realized the events occurring were
exactly the same as the ones that had occurred before invading Iraq.

I've never read the Quran (nor do I have a desire to), so I can't dispute
your claim. I do know several peaceful, law-abiding Muslims who I assume
HAVE read the Quran, and they tell me it's a religion of peace. Since
they're peaceful, law-abiding citizens (one is the postmaster at my local
post office . . . a federal government employee . . . and is as nice a guy
as you could ever meet) I tend to take their word for it. Yes, there are
militant Muslims who have interpreted parts of the Quran to claim it
advocates death to all infidels, just as there are parts of the Christian
Bible that have been interpreted similarly by Christian zealots. You should
read some of the punishments the Bible calls for as punishment of some
really silly things, like wearing fabrics woven from two different types of
thread, or planting the wrong crop in the wrong field!
Fanatics of any creed are a blight on society. Getting rid of all religions
altogether would be utopia, but just getting rid of the fanatics within each
religion would be a good step in the right direction. Start with the ones
that show up on my doorstep periodically, trying to push their little
pamphlets off on me.

It was a good year for madness.
Madness found the chance to manifest itself in many forms.

The method for stalling any end to the Iraq war became threatening

By threatening war with Iran, it forced Democrats to question the
accepted "truth" that Iran was developing a nuclear weapon and would
be an "imminent threat" if not responded to.
It divided the anti-war bloc in America because some against the war

Just days after the State of the Union speech, a White House meeting

attacking Iran.

It was decided that the attack would "be launched from the sea and
Patriot missiles will guard all oil-producing countries in the

and involved no plan to "compromise or negotiate with Syria or

A day later Bush signed a clandestine directive "against Iranian
officials and Revolutionary Guards officers behind a support and

Quite possibly. What other explanation can you make for these radicals
being able to get past the security, that Musharraf was supposedly providing
for his political rival, so easily?

By threatening war with Iran, it forced Democrats to question the
accepted "truth" that Iran was developing a nuclear weapon and
would
be an "imminent threat" if not responded to.
It divided the anti-war bloc in America because some against the

Just days after the State of the Union speech, a White House
meeting
was held between Cheney, Gates, Rice, and other assistants on
attacking Iran.

It was decided that the attack would "be launched from the sea
and
Patriot missiles will guard all oil-producing countries in the
region"
and involved no plan to "compromise or negotiate with Syria or
Iran."
A day later Bush signed a clandestine directive "against Iranian
officials and Revolutionary Guards officers behind a support and
funding network for anti-American fighters in Iraq."

To get a taste, perhaps you should read the Quran. It is kind of an

I've never read the Quran (nor do I have a desire to), so I can't

they're peaceful, law-abiding citizens (one is the postmaster at my

Do these people that show up at your door look or act like the person
that murdered Bhutto (who was pro west/america) ?
I don't know.
Don't play stupid. You know quite well there is a difference.
Of course there is. One group doesn't bother me if I don't bother them, and
the other group insists on beating on my door at least twice a week, and
yells at the neighborhood kids that they'll be damned to burn forever in
hell for not believing in their "loving god".
I see that you don't mind lying.
Did the person that murdered Bhutto wear a white shirt, black
tie and ride a bicycle? I doubt it. It's far more likely that the
person
who murdered Bhutto had a Pakistani Army uniform in his closet.
And the guy that blew himself up trying to kill her earlier - but
wasn't close enough. You are thinking he too had a Pakistani Army
uniform in his closet?
Quite possibly. What other explanation can you make for these radicals
being able to get past the security, that Musharraf was supposedly providing
for his political rival, so easily?
What other explanation?
Playing stupid again? Yes, there is another explanation.

A Year Spent Further Defining Madness
by Kevin Gosztola
It was a good year for madness.
Madness found the chance to manifest itself in many forms.
Some would say too many, others would say not enough.
Those who would say not enough would probably not think of it
as
madness like we do.
The madness began on January 12th in Bush's State of the Union
speech
when he laid the groundwork for what would be another
tumultuous
year
for our troops in the Middle East:
http://www.informationclearinghouse.info/article16149.htm
.Succeeding in Iraq also requires defending its territorial
integrity
and stabilizing the region in the face of extremist
challenges.
This begins with addressing Iran and Syria.
These two regimes are allowing terrorists and insurgents to
use
their
territory to move in and out of Iraq.
Iran is providing material support for attacks on American
troops.
We will disrupt the attacks on our forces.
We'll interrupt the flow of support from Iran and Syria.
And we will seek out and destroy the networks providing
advanced
weaponry and training to our enemies in Iraq...
Americans realized Bush's New Year's Resolution was not to
promote
peace on Earth.
The president in less than a minute sent a signal to the
American
people that Iraq would not be over anytime soon and that the
war
might
be expanding into other areas in the Middle East.
The method for stalling any end to the Iraq war became
threatening
an
illegal war on Iran.
By threatening war with Iran, it forced Democrats to question
the
accepted "truth" that Iran was developing a nuclear weapon and
would
be an "imminent threat" if not responded to.
It divided the anti-war bloc in America because some against
the
war

What lie? Christianity has ALWAYS been promoted and propogated through
fear. The purpose of religion is to keep the common people in line.
Christianity does it by promising an eternity of bliss for those who follow
the rules the Church lays down, and eternal damnation for those who don't.
If not for the promotion of fear, Christianity would have died out
completely centuries ago. These Christian missionaries are only trying to
keep their religion from being wiped out by common sense.
Did the person that murdered Bhutto wear a white shirt, black
tie and ride a bicycle? I doubt it. It's far more likely that the
person

Sure. There are lots of them. One of them is that al Qaeda is pulling
Musharraf's strings. Another is that they're pulling Bush's strings. A
third is that they're just so good at doing this sort of thing that they
somehow duped Bush into encouraging Bhutto to return to Pakistan and duped
Musharraf into pulling Bhutto's security off her. What's YOUR theory?

It doesn't, although it's history, and that of Islam, are probably the two
most commonly associated with forced conversion. My point wasn't that
Christianity was any worse than most religions. I was pointing out to the
pro-Christian Zeno that it was really no better. My original comment that
"Fanatics of any creed are a blight on society. Getting rid of all
religions altogether would be utopia, but just getting rid of the fanatics
within each religion would be a good step in the right direction" still
stands.

Buddhists fighting the war on terror see themselves as "fighting against
terrorism". Fundy Christians fighting either the war on terror or the war
against the Iraqi insurgents see themselves as "fighting against Islam".
That's the difference. Bush and the fundys have turned this into a
religious crusade. Most Americans won't buy into that, but those who view
their position in these wars as "anti-Muslim" have.

No difference, really. Zionist Jews, fundamentalist Christians and Muslim
fanatics are all basically the same. They're all cut from the same kind of
cloth. The cloth is only dyed slightly differently. Religions, in general,
tend to be very intolerant of each other. There are, of course, exceptions,
like the Unitarians, but most Unitarians don't consider themselves to be
Christians or Jews.
My experiences with Muslims have taught me this: Islam respects
Christianity more than the proto-Christian jooz do.
