Jebby says hurricanes good for florida !! |
http://www.nytimes.com/2004/09/06/national/06storm.html
(snip
Gov. Jeb Bush of Florida, visiting the National Hurricane Center in
Miami after surveying storm damage in a brief visit to Palm Beach
County on Sunday afternoon, said that one good thing about two
powerful hurricanes in a row was that it rid the state of "hurricane
amnesia," a condition he said afflicted many residents because they
had not experienced a major storm in years.
------------------------------------
Isn't that the dumbest thing? Democrats should pounce on this - say
something like "People are dead and billions of $ of property damage
have occurred but the bush royal family says it's good for you cause
it cured your amnesia"!!!

This reminds me of the story that goes a little something like
this;
> > A woman in a hot air balloon realized she was lost. She
lowered her altitude
and spotted a man in a boat below. She shouted to him, "Excuse me, can you
help me? I promised a friend I would meet him an hour ago, but I don't know
where I am."
The man consulted his portable GPS and replied, "You're in a hot air
balloon, approximately 30 feet above a ground elevation of 2346 feet above
sea level. You are at 31 degrees, 14.97 minutes north latitude and 100
degrees, 49.09 minutes west longitude.
She rolled her eyes and said, "You must be a Republican."
"I am," replied the man. "How did you know?"
"Well," answered the balloonist, everything you told me is technically
correct, but I have no idea what to do with your information, and I'm still
lost. Frankly, you've not been much help to me."
The man smiled and responded, "You must be a Democrat."
"I am," replied the balloonist. "How did you know?"
"Well," said the man, "you don't know where you are or where you're going.
You've risen to where you are, due to a large quantity of hot air. You made
a promise that you have no idea how to keep, and you expect me to solve your
problem. You're in exactly the same position you were in before we met but,
somehow, now it's my fault."
You ***** because Jeb said something you perceive to be
insensitive, but in fact what he was saying was that people who live
on the Florida coast, and who are therefore at risk of being exposed
to the damage that hurricanes can cause, ought to remember where they
live and quit pretending that it's somewhere where nothing bad ever
happens, like, say, a liberal utopia...you know; the kind that can
only exist when everyone gives up their right to carry guns so only
the criminals can have them, and they'll then be nice guys and give up
theirs too, and everyone can just ask the government for permission to
do whatever, instead of being stubbornly independant, and asserting
their rights, etc.
The fact is, if Floridians had prepared after the last one,
this one would not have been nearly as damaging. So who built the
lifts to get boats out of harbours, or away from piers and inland
quickly? No one.
Who strengthened their homes, and weatherproofed them?
You liberals will blame Jeb for saying something that you
presume is callous, when in fact what he's saying is that stuff like
this happens, and if you want your property to be undamaged, there are
certain things you have to prepare for.
You are a lot like the liberal woman in the story above. Of
course, she was honestly stupid, whereas you are just looking for
something you think sounds like a legitimate criticism, because you
are desperate for whatever you can say against a Republican.

Maybe gawd heard him.
There's a third one on its way...
-
"And I deeply resent the destruction of federalism represented by Hillary Clinton’s willingness to go into a state she doesn’t even live in and pretend to represent people there. So I certainly wouldn’t imitate it.”
Alan Keyes (R-Hypocrite) on Fox News, "Special Report with Brit Hume," March 17, 2000
"Pre-emptive war was invented by Adolf Hitler. To be perfectly honest,
I wouldn't take anyone who came up with such a thing seriously".
Dwight Eisenhower (legitimately elected President), 1953
Not dead, in jail, or a slave? Thank a liberal!
