Object: Job growth in January another nail in Bush's coffin
The weak labor market is expected to be a major issue between
candidates in the presidential race.
Bush's opponents say his economic policies have helped the wealthy and
done little to create new jobs.
Many of the new jobs in January came from a 76,000 increase in the
retail sector.
The Labor Department said that because some retailers took on fewer
employees than expected in November and December, they did not shed as
many after the holiday season, according to the seasonal adjustment
factors in the report.
The troubled manufacturing sector cut jobs for the 42nd month in a
row, despite some signs of a revival in factories seen in other
economic data.

WASHINGTON (Reuters) -
The U.S. economy created just 112,000 new jobs in January, far fewer
than expected, government data showed on Friday in a disappointing
report that will likely weigh on President Bush's re-election
campaign.

250,000 new jobs needed to be created every month just to meet the demand.
112,000 falls far short.

76,000 of the jobs were reported to be retail. Not good jobs. Also they
stated that most of the jobs was really only a paper number. The seasonal
adjustment is out of balance since there were few hired for chirstmas and the
layoff are small as a result.
This report is a disaster and it most certainly should wake the people up to
the fact that there is no recovery in the works.

Unemployment "falling" is a nail in the coffin of Bush? You must be a
Democrat. If there was 0 percent unemployment and you were crapping on a
gold commode you would still *****. US has one of the best employment
rates in the world. Get a grip. So, what was the unemployment rate under
***** Clinton???

It speaks volumes Harry when a stinking 112,000 new jobs (two thirds
retail minimum wage jobs at that) is the highwater mark of job growth
under Dumbya!
In fact just to get back to Zero Job Growth under his term in the
Whitehouse the economy would have to add nearly 500,000 jobs per month
until November!
