Object: Joe Wilson's credibility tanks (uranium! Nigeria! "Bush lied!!!")
( http://www.washingtonpost.com/wp-dyn/articles/A39834-2004Jul9.html ) Now what was that about Bush being a liar?
Excerpt:
Wilson's assertions -- both about what he found in Niger and what
the Bush administration did with the information -- were undermined
yesterday in a bipartisan Senate intelligence committee report.

The panel found that Wilson's report, rather than debunking intelligence
about purported uranium sales to Iraq, as he has said, bolstered the
case for most intelligence analysts. And contrary to Wilson's assertions
and even the government's previous statements, the CIA did not tell the
White House it had qualms about the reliability of the Africa
intelligence that made its way into 16 fateful words in President Bush's
January 2003 State of the Union address.

Yesterday's report said that whether Iraq sought to buy lightly enriched
"yellowcake" uranium from Niger is one of the few bits of prewar
intelligence that remains an open question. Much of the rest of the
intelligence suggesting a buildup of weapons of mass destruction was
unfounded, the report said.

The report turns a harsh spotlight on what Wilson has said about his
role in gathering prewar intelligence, most pointedly by asserting that
his wife, CIA employee Valerie Plame, recommended him.

I say:
If you believed Joe Wilson when he said that Bush lied, don't feel
bad. A lot of other people got suckered too. I wasn't one of them.

The White House was warned by the CIA 6 months before the SOTU address that
the yellowcake memo was dubious. More people then just Wilson said it was
bad intel.
The WH used it anyway.
They lied.
Clear enough for ya?

LOL
The Administration was warned at least 6 months before the SOTU speech that
the Iraq/Yellowcake story was questionable at best. The WH decided to
include it in the SOTU address - they pushed bad intelligence knowingly.
They lied.
Hope that helps!

Here's what helps, the quote was that british itelligence reported that
incident. The British still stand by their intelligence report and there for
no lie has been told!
Hope that helps?

Last I heard the Brits have said their intelligence service screwed up
royally.
Basically, both Blair and Bush are blaming their own governments, for which
they are responsible, for the whole mess.
It's everybody's fault, so it's nobody's fault?
Anywho, the Iraq/Yellowcake story was never considered solid.

I have read all 848 pages of the actual report. In several places it
indicates he lied. As it is in PDF format, you'll just have to download it
and read it for yourself. I do not read newspapers, nor listen to radio or
watch TV. I go directly to the source when I want to know something. After
all, it was my job for many a year.

I wondered atthe time how he could pass judgement on the Memo without having
actually seen it.

nobody did anything wrong, why be so reluctant to admit it?
