Circuit court denies relief for pharmacists
Druggists must adhere to governor's rule on emergency contraception
By DOUG FINKE
STATE CAPITOL BUREAU
A Sangamon County judge Thursday refused to block a rule from Gov. Rod
Blagojevich requiring Illinois pharmacies to dispense emergency
contraceptives.
Judge John Belz denied the request for a temporary restraining order
filed by two pharmacists who said they are morally opposed to
dispensing the so-called "morning after" pill.
Belz said the pharmacists failed to meet the legal standards for him
to issue a restraining order, including that they had exhausted all
other legal remedies.
