Just reentered the IT field after a 1.5 year layoff at almost 1/2 old salary. |
I recently was hired back into the computer IT field after 1.5 years of
being laid off.
I am no longer unemployed but under employed. Luckily I also run a part time
business to pay my bills. Otherwise I am just a few steps above a glorified
McDonalds job.
I am hired back doing twice the work and 1/2 the pay. Yeah a few people may
be going back to work but quite a few are going back making chump change.

Lucky you. I was laid off being in the IT field and also the company's Web
designer/graphic artist about 1.5 years ago. I still haven't found anything,
one of the two McDonald's here has been closed, and the area's oldest
industry went bankrupt.
I wanted a vacation, but this is fucking ridiculous.

You can thank your elected official. Orin Hatch is presently in the process of
getting bad judges appointed and more immigrants into the country. It is time
that people like Orin Hatch represents the interest of the people of Utah and
not his personal pocket book. Orin writes songs and by a quirk in the senate
rules is allowed to sell them to people who also want more immigrants. It is a
legal bribe but hey it is the US Senate so they passed a rule to make it legal.
The US Computer industry was destroyed by the corporations who found lackies
like Orin Hatch who put there personal interest above the countries.
George W. Bush last Feb signed a law that allowed the 1,500,000 h1b visa (guest
workers) to stay an extra year in the united states. Corporations are not
crying that they do not want to lost years of experence by replacing guest
workers with out of work Americans. BTW those Americans make more money which
is the real reason. How many billions does Bill Gates need?
