Kerry Stole Vietnam Files from Historian? |
In March of 2004, thousands of Kerry FBI documents were stolen from
historian Gerald Nicosia's home. Many of these stolen documents
pertained to Kerry's activity at a November 1971 Kansas City
"anti-war" rally, where the assassination of US leaders was discussed.
Historian Nicosia had obtained the Kerry FBI documents over the course
of many years, using the Freedom of Information Act. Valuables in
Nicosia's home were left untouched -- only the Kerry FBI documents
were stolen.
Here's a CNN report on the theft:
http://www.cnn.com/2004/US/West/03/27/kerry.documents
Kerry recently attempted to deny he was at the Kansas City meeting,
but some of the remaining FBI documents prove Kerry was there, where
assassination of US leaders was discussed.
A recent Washington Post article discusses some of the content in the
FBI files, which have escaped theft:
According to FBI records first released to Nicosia, Kerry
sometimes expressed fairly radical points of view. For example,
he described North Vietnamese Communist leader Ho Chi Minh as
"the George Washington of Vietnam."
The FBI kept careful tabs on the protesters through a network
of informers, who tracked Kerry's movements. The FBI records
help to disprove a long-standing claim by Kerry that he resigned
from the Vietnam Veterans Against the War leadership in the summer
of 1971, before the organization began to flirt with proposals
for radical civil disobedience and even violence.
The FBI records also show that Kerry was present for a
particularly contentious meeting in Kansas City, Mo., in November
1971, at which plans were discussed for the assassination or
kidnapping of government officials or the takeover of the Statue
of Liberty.
Told about the FBI records earlier this year, Kerry said through
a spokesman that he now accepted he must have been in Kansas City
for the November meeting.
"There was no way he would have forgotten about being in Kansas
City," said Nicosia, who is generally sympathetic to Kerry.

And HOW exactly did Kerry steal these papers? Given that they are all
copies I'm sure you and your wingnuts can get them again from the FBI and
find the deep dark secret that Kerry snuck into the house to steal and save
himself from.... Oh wait! You can't! BECAUSE this Prez and VP have made
this the most secretive administration ever and you can no longer get
government papers unless it hurts the other guy and I can GUARANTEE that
these papers won't hurt Kerry or they would have already been leaked.

This historian, Nicosia, spent over 10 years tracking down these
Kerry documents, and someone stole 14 boxes of them.
Perhaps you've heard of something called "scholarly research,"
which involves more time than buying a Coke from a soda machine.
This was the life's work of Nicosia, and it was stolen last March
for fear the information would become public.

"In his 16 years in the Senate, John Kerry has
fought against government waste and worked hard
to bring some accountability to Washington. Early
in his Senate career in 1986, John signed on to
the Gramm-Rudman-Hollings Deficit Reduction Bill,

Which means that Nicosia, or anybody else, can get those documents
again using the Freedom of Information Act. Therefore the theft is
totally useless from Kerry's point of view.
BTW can somebody ask, using the Freedom of Information Act, for
the list of documents that Nicosia had asked?
Can Nicosia ask for such a list?
Just wondering...
