Kerry's Lead Over Bush Widens in New Hampshire, Florida Polls
(Bloomberg) --
Democratic presidential nominee John Kerry leads President George W.
Bush by 7 percentage points in both Florida and New Hampshire, two
battleground states in the November election, an American Research
Group Inc. poll found.
In New Hampshire, 49 percent of likely voters surveyed Aug. 3- 5 said
they would vote for Kerry if the election were held today, while 42
percent said they would vote for Bush, the poll found.
In Florida, Kerry led 50 percent to 43 percent among likely voters
surveyed Aug. 3-5.
Kerry, 60, a four-term Massachusetts senator, led Bush by 2 percentage
points in New Hampshire and by 3 percentage points in Florida in July
American Research polls.
Kerry is picking up support among Democrats who were undecided and now
support him, partly because of the Democratic National Convention in
Boston last week, said ***** Bennett, president of Manchester, New
Hampshire-based American Research Group.
``He's strengthened his support among Democrats, and you can logically
conclude that the convention brought wayward Democrats back to
Kerry,'' Bennett said.
A separate poll released yesterday also found Kerry with a 13
percentage point lead over Bush in New Jersey.
Quinnipiac University in Hamden, Connecticut, found Kerry leading Bush
by 49 to 36 percent in another state considered a battleground in the
Nov. 2 elections.

So much for New Jersey being in play. If Kerry takes Florida, game over!

There's a Professor, at Princeton University, who keeps a running
statistical analysis of electoral votes based on the latest polls. He
is currently showing the probability of Kerry winning the election at
98%.
It will be interesting to see what Bush's ministry of propaganda comes
up with in the next few weeks. Their latest ad, called "Together"
conveys a warm, fuzzy, feel-good, American-pie image of Bush. Is this
an indication that Bush is going to drop his negative, attack-dog ads?
For Bush, I think that would be the smart thing to do. I wonder,
though, if Karl Rove could stick to this strategy very long. Rove has
always practiced dirty, take-no-prisoners politics. What do you
suppose this "evil genius" will come up with next?

I think that the "official" Bush ad is their response to Kerry's "let's take
the high road" appeal. The "Swift Boat" ad was timed to run at the same time
to do the dirty work, while giving Bush "plausible deniability" at the same
time.

Is this the same professor that testified for Gore in 2000? I think he was
from Princeton University. It was completely embarrassing how the lawyer
picked his numbers apart.
