OMAHA, Sept. 1 (UPI) -- An arbitrator ordered the Nebraska State
Patrol to reinstate a trooper who was fired after his membership in
the Ku Klux Klan was revealed.

The decision to reinstate Robert Henderson, who was fired after
admitting to membership in the KKK and posting on a message board for
white supremacist group the White Knights, has sparked controversy
among those who disagree with the arbitrator's ruling that the State
Patrol failed to demonstrate that Henderson poses a threat to the
public or the police, ABC News reported Friday.

Nebraska Attorney General Jon Bruning has filed a motion to overturn
the decision.

"We don't want this person on the staff (of the Nebraska State
Patrol)," he said. "We don't want the agency destroyed by a racist
like Bob Henderson."

Unless the appeal is granted, the state of Nebraska must reinstate
Henderson, who has since resigned his membership in the groups and
admitted that joining was a mistake, within 60 days.

abstract, klan practices include terroristic actions.

The Klan is on the border of being 'abstract' in the
tangible sense nowdays ... their membership is down
to almost zero - a tiger with no teeth. They don't
DO anything anymore beyond dress up in funny clothes
and march around burning 'T'-shaped wooden monoliths
like idiots.

In short, the Klan has become IRRELEVANT ... except as
a strawman for the 'liberals' to attack.

I suppose this
guy, as a believer in klan ideas, will, sooner or later, act on those
ideas and beliefs. That would not only be cause for dismissal but a
felony as well.

Remember detective Mark Furhman from the OJ days ? Serious

Officer Henderson more or less ADMITS to being a racist by
his KKK membership ... but most other racist police are in
"stealth mode" or are known racists but not "official"
racists because they don't join KKK or Aryan Nations.

Are you saying that it's OK to be a 'un-official' racist
in the police department wheras "official" racists ought
to be fired ? All you're doing there is to push the racism
a bit further underground, out of public sight but hardly
without practical consequences to the public.

republicans) is the proper course, but one must be prepared to pound

And what OTHER kinds of political philosophies make someone
an unacceptable candidate for the police academy ? Is it
OK to dislike moslems ? Hey, they're not BORN that way - so
it's not 'racism'. If a cop joins an anti-Osama group, or
the US army reserve, should he be fired ? What about cops
who dislike Mexicans - or think all 'blacks' should get off
the hook because the laws were writ by racist slavemasters ?
Can they serve the public ? Not ? Maybe ???

As for Henderson, it's CONVENIENT that he's in the Klan.
That means his work can be evaluated with an eye towards
racial bias. The 'stealth' racists ... you've gotta assume
otherwise, that they're not racists ... and that means
you could miss a lot of abuses.

Face it, if you got a committee together and made a list
of every political, psychological or religious particular
or quirk that should disqualify someone from being police
we'd have no policemen at all. America is 'diverse' - and
that means you'll always have cops who don't think just
like some committee believes they should.

I don't think I argued the opposite.

I once tried to register with a Robert Half agency. They wanted me to
fill out a personal history that included "hobbies". I asked what
possible relevance could "hobbies" have with accounting. Never did turn
it in.

For every Henderson there's gonna be another cop who's an
ultra-lib. They'll keep an eye on each other ... a balance
of diversity ....
