TEHRAN, Iran Iran's hard-line President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad urged
students Tuesday to push for a purge of liberal and secular teachers
from universities, in another sign of his determination to stamp a
strong Islamic fundamentalist revival on the country......

Those darned Islamofascists. It's "ok" here at home, of course.

The American method also includes non-confrontational and impersonal
means, primarily economic, so you can't point fingers as easily. They
just cash-starve the liberal arts departments and pour the corporate
money into select favorites. That resulting drain has similar effects.

The one problem is that good IT and engineering jobs are increasingly
sent overseas, so the new student hoping to make it in a traditionally
safer field can -- paradoxically -- be more flexible in chosing his
academic plan. You make just as much money as an unemployed
anthropologist as you do as an outsourced engineer.
