You think the fbi should arrest a kid because of a Usenet squabble? It's
hardly a major scandal.

No, not because of a "Usenet squabble." This story
involves a lot more than one teenage punk threatening
to kill FBI employees, and not being prosecuted by the
Justice Department after the kid confessed, as if that
isn't a major scandal in its own right.
The real scandal is that high ranking officials within
the FBI and Justice Department are protecting the
teenage punk, claiming he had every right to threaten
to shoot and kill several FBI employees because he
made the threat under the forged name of a political
dissident. That is a HUGE scandal.
No amount of spin can hide what the FBI and Justice
Department are doing, in this particular case.
Frankly, the FBI and Justice Department officials
who are protecting the teenage punk, Bud Gibson,
should be prosecuted under Section 803 of the Patriot
Act, which makes it a crime to harbor terrorists, which
is exactly what the FBI and the Justice Department
are doing by not prosecuting Bud Gibson. The punk
confessed to committing the crime, according to
FBI official, Steven Martinez (Cyber Division),
but the Justice Department and FBI are dropping
the investigation and subsequent prosecution.
If we're going to have a Patriot Act, we should enforce
the damn thing. But in the Bud Gibson case, we're not.
