I am currently associated with the Saturn car manufacturer. I serve in
a role that directly serves the public. A role that provides customer
service and problem resolution to Saturn car owners. We have recently
experienced, first hand, the concern of outsourcing interests that are
a danger to my country. Our center is bound for transition to IBM and
to an India based customer service center. We are obliged to not only
continue our valuable service to American car owners, but, we are
obliged to offer coaching and training to our Indian counterparts. I
believe our dignitiy degrades with each passing day, with realization
that our jobs, our livelihoods are sent to this global economy for a
reduction in costs.
This is wrong.
What is happening to the pride of work Americans provide Americans?
Will we continue to ship jobs overseas to save a dollar (much more than
that I'm sure, without any figures to provide)?
Will we continue to coddle the world economy by sending our valuable
service jobs overseas?
What will be the breaking point in this new economy?
When will Americans decide to say "enough is enough"?
Thoughts? Comments?
