I don't understand this. Isn't lynching already illegal?

It was an apology for not passing an anti-lynching law years ago when
Congress had the chance.

Between 1882 and 1968, nearly 5000 people were lynched. In that same
time period, nearly 200 anti-lynching bills were proposed; none ever
made it out of the Senate.

Kent Conrad signed it (I believe today). Now it's just Republicans, aka the
racist Party.

Yep, it's all Republicans right? Care to explain why this wasn't done when
the Democrats controlled the Senate? Oh, I know, it wasn't an issue back
then, was it?
Who really cares? So the Senate apologizes, for something that should have
been done years ago. Now they say their sorry.
I feel sorry for anyone who makes this a partisan issue (i.e. The Democrats
are for it! (sound familliar?)) It means nothing.....it's not going to
bring anyone who was lynched back.
Also, there isn't a Senator (Republican or Democrat) now serving, who was
present the last time an anti-lynching bill was presented.
Get off your high horse......if it was such a big deal, the Senate would
have done something when the Democrats controlled the Congress....as for
now, it's just another futile attempt to make them seem like they care.....

No high horse. There are no winners here - this highlights a truly sad
period of time in our history. But there are some big losers in this - the
Republican racists that couldn't even summon enough courage to sign a
resolution against lynching. How fucking patheti is that? Distract all you
want, only Republicans didn't sign it, and that says everything.

Who really cares? So the Senate apologizes, for something that should
have been done years ago. Now they say their sorry.
There are 14 Senators who specifically did NOT.
I feel sorry for anyone who makes this a partisan issue
How is it not a "partisan issue" when so many people of one party voted
against it?
When something like this happens - it sure as hell says something about the
values of that party. Thems just facts.
Also, there isn't a Senator (Republican or Democrat) now serving, who was
present the last time an anti-lynching bill was presented.
That's because Democratic Senator Mary Landrieu wasn't around to present it.
