AMERICANS WANT BUSH TO DISCLOSE HIS CONTACTS WITH ABRAMOFF:
In a press conference yesterday morning, President Bush repeatedly
stonewalled reporters' requests for the release of photographs that exist
showing him with disgraced lobbyist Jack Abramoff. Bush said the pictures
are "not relevant to the investigation."
The American public disagrees. According to a new Washington Post-ABC News
poll, 76 percent of Americans said "Bush should disclose contacts between
aides and Abramoff." Bush explicitly denied that he has ever had any
relationship with Abramoff, saying, "I don't know him."
But according to a news account, "[N]ot only did [Abramoff] know the
President, but the President knew the names of Abramoff's children and asked
about them during their meetings. At one such photo session, Bush discussed
the fact that both he and Abramoff were fathers of twins."
