Object: Must show ID to buy cold medicine but note to VOTE?
What the ... ?
Now it's "controversial" to require people to show valid identification
when VOTING -- but not for buying cold medicine?
This shows the INSANITY that prevails in America today. It also shows how
profoundly one of the pre-eminent rights and responsibilties of citizenship
-- the right to vote -- has been degraded. I guess the elites figure if
they can rig opinion polls and even throw elections (see the book
"Votescam" and lots of info online) it makes no difference who's allowed to
vote.
I'm reminded of the incident in Florida a couple of years ago in which a
newly arrived family of non-English-speaking Mexican peasant illegal aliens
-- they'd been in the USA but a few weeks -- raised hell after a public
school's employees asked them (in Spanish, no less) for proof of residence
a utilties or telephone bill, for example) when they tried to enroll their
illegal alien kids at the public school, just as schools and public
libraries regularly ask U.S. citizens for proof of residence before
enrolling their kids or issuing a library card to them. The impudent
aristocrats, er, illegal aliens shortly returned to the school with a local
"La Raza"-type group to protest and were given significant media time/space
to air their outrageous, baseless grievances, and the school's
administrators and clerical staff were forced to apologize to the illegals.
America is SICK. We need to CURE it -- and FAST.

Even with fake papers?

I have to wonder if you ever voted.... When we show up at the polling
booth, we first have to be registered to vote, which has to occur before
showing up to vote. So, when I show up to cast my vote, they first ask for
my name. They check that against the voter registration list, to see if my
name appears on the list. At the same time, they ask for a photo ID.

If you are an alien, a foreign national, you can't vote.

Even with fake papers?

I have to wonder if you ever voted.... When we show up at the polling
booth, we first have to be registered to vote, which has to occur before
showing up to vote. So, when I show up to cast my vote, they first ask
for my name. They check that against the voter registration list, to
see if my name appears on the list. At the same time, they ask for a
photo ID.

I've been voting for over 25 years.

I have NEVER EVER NEVER EVER NEVER been asked for ID.

Not once. NEVER.

Nor was it needed to register. NEVER.

What state is that?

California.
Probably the state with the MOST illegal aliens. Doesn't require ID to vote.
You know why? It would be ILLEGAL. Remember poll taxes? Same thing.

Voter registration rules have also been changed by HAVA. Every person
who registers or re-registers to vote after January 1, 2006 is now
required to include on their voter registration affidavit their
California driver's license number, if they have a current and valid
driver's license, or their California identification card number, if
they have one, or, if they have neither a driver's license nor a
California ID, the last four digits of their Social Security number,
if they have a Social Security card. If a person does not possess a
driver's license, state-issued identification card or a Social
Security card, he or she will still become a registered voter. But, if
they do have this information, they must provide it. Any person voting
for the first time who registers by mail who does not provide this
information will be asked to show a form of identification when he or
she goes to the polls, or to provide a copy of that identification
with his or her absentee ballot. There are 30 forms of identification
that can be used for this purpose under HAVA, including a government
issued check or a utility bill that includes the person's name and
address.

No, but there's no evidence that they are.

BTW, fear and paranoia and racism aren't evidence.

Findings of a detail look at 2,460 of the 14,000 recently
registered Democrat voters in Kern County, California that are
registered to vote in the 30th Assembly District:
• 69 people actually admitted voting at least twice. These are
just the ones who admitted it.
• 93 people admitted that they voted but are not citizens of
the United States. They were told that if they registered and
voted, it would help them get their citizenship.
• 272 people actually admitted that they do not live in the
30th Assembly District but that they voted in the 30th
Assembly District
We found people who changed the spelling of their name
slightly so that they could register and vote a second time.
Someone named William also registered as Bill. We found people
with the same name registered at the same address whose
birthdays were exactly one year or one day apart. By changing
their birth date, one person became two people with two votes.
The biggest problem that we found was the number of people who
showed up at the polls and voted using someone else’s name. We
have testimony from people who report that they went to vote
and found that their name had already been used. People
impersonated the legitimate voter. How did they do that? A lot
of people are registered but don’t vote. Hanging on the wall
in every polling place in the State of California is a list of
the people that are eligible to vote at that polling place. By
state law, every two hours, an election worker up dates the
list with the names of the people who have voted. The cheaters
send in someone with a cell phone to call back to the
headquarters with the names of the people who have not voted.
People claiming to be those people miraculously show up and vote.
We found 905 fraudulent ballots out of 2,460 voters.

Illustrates a need for curbing voter fraud. Thanks for

If you are an alien, a foreign national, you can't vote.

Even with fake papers?

I have to wonder if you ever voted.... When we show up at the
polling
booth, we first have to be registered to vote, which has to occur
before
showing up to vote. So, when I show up to cast my vote, they first
ask
for my name.

Doesn't require ID to
vote.

You know why? It would be ILLEGAL. Remember poll taxes? Same thing.

You approve of illegal aliens voting in our elections?

What makes you think they are voting?

It's hard enough getting citizens to vote!

I also find it strange that people want to keep ex-convicts from
voting. One would think that ex-cons were running down to register in
huge numbers.
Actually any ex-con who wants to vote is making a very positive
statement about participating in society.

In a case that some have called a showdown over voting rights, a U.S.
appeals court yesterday upheld an injunction barring the state of Georgia
from enforcing a law requiring citizens to get government-issued photo
identification in order to vote.
The ruling allows thousands of Georgians who do not have government-issued
identification, such as driver's licenses and passports, to vote in the Nov.
8 municipal elections without obtaining a special digital identification
card, which costs $20 for five years. In prior elections, Georgians could
use any one of 17 types of identification that show the person's name and
address, including a driver's license, utility bill, bank statement or a
paycheck, to gain access to a voting booth.
Last week, when issuing the injunction, U.S. District Judge Harold L. Murphy
likened the law to a Jim Crow-era poll tax that required residents, most of
them black, to pay back taxes before voting. He said the law appeared to
violate the Constitution for that reason. In the 2004 election, about
150,000 Georgians voted without producing government-issued identification.

Requiring identification is not unconstitutional.
The judge in this case objects because Blacks would have to
pay back taxes to be registered. He likens that to a poll tax.
The comparison is wrong. The judgment is wrong.
Since some of the identification allowed borders on the criminally
negligent, there's work to do.

Requiring identification is not unconstitutional.

The judge in this case objects because Blacks would have to
pay back taxes to be registered. He likens that to a poll tax.

The comparison is wrong. The judgment is wrong.

Please learn how to read before you respond. let me show you the passages:
The ruling allows thousands of Georgians who do not have government-issued
identification, such as driver's licenses and passports, to vote in the
Nov.
8 municipal elections without obtaining a special digital identification
card, which costs $20 for five years. In prior elections, Georgians could
use any one of 17 types of identification that show the person's name and
address, including a driver's license, utility bill, bank statement or a
paycheck, to gain access to a voting booth.
The above is what the law that was struck down was it required that people
go out and get a spefic card costing 20 dollars in order to be allowed to
voted rather than using the other forms of ID they had always used. It is
this requirement that the Judge refered to in the second passage that
follows as like a Poll Tax. This does not mean voters would have to pay back
taxes as you stated.
The reason it was struck down is it was a burden on the poor and minorities
as it was intended to be as they tend to not vote for the Republican
canidtae unless they are white.

Since some of the identification allowed borders on the criminally
negligent, there's work to do.

I think there's ground for a class action lawsuit.
