Najaf Sees Worst Fighting Since 2003
Fri Aug 6, 7:13 PM ET
By ABDUL HUSSEIN AL-OBEIDI
Associated Press Writer
NAJAF, Iraq - U.S. helicopter gunships and fighter jets pounded Shiite
Muslim insurgents hiding in a sprawling cemetery Friday in the most intense
fighting in this holy city since the fall of Saddam Hussein. The U.S.
military said 300 militants were killed in the past two days.
The clashes between coalition forces and militant Shiite cleric Muqtada
al-Sadr's Mahdi Army flared in Shiite communities across the country,
killing dozens of other Iraqis, according to Iraqi officials and the
militants.
The fighting, which began early Thursday, threatened to re-ignite the
bloody, two-month Shiite insurrection that broke out in April - and the
heavy U.S. response appeared designed to quash militia activity quickly and
prevent a repeat.

A pattern of deception
A hard truth appears to have escaped the notice of the public and received
scant attention from the media: Bush is the first president in American
history to use deceptive propaganda as his main means of communications in
selling his policies. His pattern of deception continues unabated and in
direct conflict with the notion of the public's informed consent that is
central to American democracy.

While we're on the subject, how do you define "major combat operations", and
how do you think that Bush defined them back on May 1, 2003?

On November 1, 2004, we will mark the 18 month anniversary of Bush's
declaration of the end of major combat operations.
On November 2, 2004, we will all show up at the polls, and mark the
end days of Junior's administration.

And if true, starting in January we will be back to the Clinton
"Thank you al Qaeda, may I have another" policy. Oh boy.

I don't think so.
Anything Bush can do, Kerry can do better.
Bush is not "Anti-Terrorist Superman".
The 9/11 inside jobbers just want Americans to think he is.

".........we will all show up at the polls........."
It would be nice if EVERY American did show up at the polls in November.
It would shock the world, because in the past, the USA has had the lowest voter turn-out of
all the world's democracies.
