My solution to the Iraq War. |
The President should announce;
* We have no intention to force on Iraq a neo liberal economy.
Thereby we encourage you, the Iraqi people to rescind Bremmers, the
proconsul during the occupation, illegal orders (flat tax, 100%
repatriation of profit by foreigners, etc.). Furthermore, we stop
building a 'Vatican' size embassy.
* We do not want permanent military bases in Iraq. Thereby, we stop
building them.
* We do not want to 'steal' your oil. Thereby, we pull out our personal
from your oil ministry. You are free to sell your oil to the ones who
gives you the best deal.
All of that would take care of the justified suspicion of the Iraqis,
and diminish resistance to the occupation.
* We have the intention to leave Iraq as soon as possible. If you
restore security, we'll leave. And we grant you $20 billions for
rebuilding your country, with no strings attached, except ONE. Arrest or
expel all Al Qaeda or affiliated organizations and persons.
Of course my ideas are not World Domination or Perpetual War, Bush would
like to have, but it could result in a peaceful end of this misguided
advanture, the Iraq War.

Arrest or expel all Al Qaeda or affiliated organizations and persons.
Point of order.
You do know that Al Qaeda were never in Iraq until after the occupation
don't you?
Indeed, US intelligence estimates that only 6% of attacks on US forces are
carried out by non-Iraqis even now.
It's important to be remain strictly accurate and truthful or you'll lose
credibility.
I just love the new middle east White House by the way.
114 acres eh? I hear they even managed to get the power switched on already.
Impressive.
What was all that stuff I seem to remember reading about Saddams ruling
party building themselves huge grandiose palaces?

That seems like a reasonable program to me. I don't know that $20
billion would be enough for reconstruction, though. There probably has
to be security funding, before the reconstruction money can be spent.
Until Iraq can stop the oil pipeline attacks, there's little hope of
them reconstructing the way that Rumsfeld and Cheney promised us they
would.
I know that the United States is building very permanent-looking
military installations in Iraq. And anyone who has seen Fahrenheit
9/11 has seen the video footage of the Iraq-for-sale economic
conference, hosted by American businesses. The one thing you mentioned
that I don't recall hearing before is that the United States has its
own people in positions of responsibility at Iraq's oil ministry. Do
you have a citation for this statement? Thanks.

At this point the only security Iraq can have as a single country is a
central government more brutal than Saddam, more brutal than BushCo's
occupation, more brutal than could allow democracy.
Since BushCo has the Shias, Sunnis, and Kurds at one another's throat the
most likely shape of peace would be three autonomous countries.

Nah, Hezbollah would just help the Shias against the Sunnis.
Nor do I see Hezbollah as the big, bad, wolf. They provide more help to
the individual person and family on the ground without regard for corporate
profit than anyone else in that part of the world.
Too bad they can't give up their jew-hatred.

You maybe right. But the prospect of NOT being a neo liberal colony of
the US, may unite them.
Since BushCo has the Shias, Sunnis, and Kurds at one another's throat the
most likely shape of peace would be three autonomous countries.
Yes. After Negoponte practiced his trade, it's hard to put Iraq together.

No, I don't have any data of how many of Bush and Cheney's bodies are
crawling all over at the oil ministry. But, it's well known that the
protection of the oil fields were the highest priority before the war,
only the oil ministry were protected, while most of Baghdad were looted.

Have you heard that Brown and Root have the concession for American
mess halls in Iraq? To the point where they have gotten the Iraqi
government to discourage and even prohibit the establishment of fast
food restaurants that might compete with their body count for contract
