the law should be written to say:
If the other person is under 18, you should be within 3 years of age of them!

You're confusing maturity
with chronological age.
Many a precocious 17 year
old is perfectly matched
to a late-blooming 30
year old lover, wouldn't

I believe there are a few states for which that is the case, but when
you think about it, there are some pretty profound differences between
15 year olds and 18 year olds, or for that matter 25 year olds and 18
year olds.
