NASA to offer $100 billion moon program
By Reuters
With the shuttle fleet grounded and the International Space Station
staffed by a skeleton crew, NASA is set to unveil plans on Monday to
take people and cargo to the moon.
Even before the official announcement, there is criticism from Capitol
Hill over the reported $100 billion cost of the lunar program, given
U.S. government commitments to the Iraq war and the recovery from
Hurricane Katrina.

NASA will be using fifty-year old Apollo and Shuttle technology as prime
components in the 'new' vehicle. Been there, done that! What is really
needed is reliable and inexpensive access to low earth orbit; once that is
achieved then access to the moon and Mars won't cost hundreds of billions of
dollars because most of the costs are associated with that first phase of
any space mission.
This Bush moon/Mars project will amount to little more than an overpriced
field trip and will do little to establish a permanent, affordable, and
commercially useful presence in space. The mission will produce limited
scientific return as well. Been there, done that! Spend money on space,
yes, but spend it only when there is prospect of a large technological,
commercial, or scientific return. The Bush plan is money for nothing.

Hill over the reported $100 billion cost of the lunar program, given

Thanks be to George for getting us to the threshold of a new milestone: the
magical eight trillion dollar mark.
Can a repeat of the 1929 collapse be far off?

Well, the moon program is not actually a bad thing.
As of this moment, we still have a deficit of well paid technology jobs.
Well educated, high skilled engineers are under utilized, underpaid, and
job market for high tech is still sluggish.
While administration refuse to roll back the braindamaged tax cuts, the only
solution to get more revenue from taxation is to increase wages. To create
very well paid jobs, so maintaining the current percent of taxation you are
actually going to get more.
If NASA will start to employ a big number of engineers for the space
program, corporations will find themself fighting to keep their specialists
in place. Therefore, they need to increase wages for high skilled
professionals. This will not just generate more revenue from taxation, but
having a bigger number of people with decent wages, will allow them to spend
more, kick starting the rest of the economy.
Conclusion:
NASA moon program is actually going to help the economy IF they will use
these money to employ directly a big number of engineers directly.
This is a spending !!!
By contrast, tax cuts hurt the economy, increase poverty and hurt small
businesses. This is a wasting !!!
