Object: NASCAR Demolition Derby
NASCAR isn't a good test for cars. No one is supposed to drive that
fast in the real world (and no one could afford the fuel costs even if
they found enough open road). A demolition derby would be much more
useful and entertaining. You could set a weight restriction to keep it
real and only allow top speeds of 65 MPH. There would be no pit stops
and only the occasional pause to let losing drivers get out of there
cars and off the course. You would get a real test of safety & fuel
efficiency, and much more bang for the buck.

You don't really understand much about engineering do you?

They would never get any sponsers, the sponsers like their logos to
last more than 5 seconds.
Nothing better that a shot of the winning car after doing 500laps and
not a scratch on it..... and that nice big logo on the side.

I hate to break this to you but your brilliant idea has been thought of
already.. in fact, you can find demolition derbies in just about every
rural fair across america!

I'm talking about a nationally televised event every weekend! I'm
talking sponsorship and the best engineers & drivers around, not the
county fair! Surely, you must see the difference?!

I'm glad SOMEBODY sees the brilliance of this idea! Who does this guy
think he is, assuming that I don't know anything about engineering just
because I want safety tests instead of speed trials. And then the guy
talking about "rural fairs". Come on people, use your imagination!

It looks like you get a great deal of enjoyment out of talking to yourself.
