Pardon Libby
By The Editors
President Bush should pardon I. Lewis “Scooter” Libby. The trial that
concluded in a guilty verdict on four of five counts conclusively proved
only one thing: A White House aide became the target of a politicized
prosecution set in motion by bureaucratic infighting and political
cowardice.
(SNIP)
There should have been no referral, no special counsel, no indictments, and
no trial. The “CIA-leak case” has been a travesty. A good man has paid a
very heavy price for the Left’s fevers, the media’s scandal-mongering, and
President Bush’s failure to unify his own administration. Justice demands
that Bush issue a pardon and lower the curtain on an embarrassing drama
that shouldn’t have lasted beyond its opening act.

Has Buckley relinquished editorial control of NR?
I can hardly think he would endorse this view without waiting for the
justice system to work to completion, unless he's suffering from a
neurodegenerative disease in his old age.
This expression of contempt for the American justice system and the jurors
who served is utter sour grapes.

Ford did the same thing with nixon 30 years ago. In fact he didn't even
wait for nixon to be charged to pardon him of any conceivable crime!!
Washington is nothing but corruption.

Yep, and it has went downhill ever since.

I have to agree. I think Richard Armitage should be pardoned.

Don't you find it strange that a Republican controlled administration
would sic the dogs on one of their own insiders? Very strange...
almost as though the system was functioning normally as it should have
been all along, eh?

There should have been no referral, no special counsel, no indictments, and
no trial.

Why stop there? How about no legitimate government either, eh?

The "CIA-leak case" has been a travesty. A good man has paid a
very heavy price for the Left's fevers, the media's scandal-mongering, and
President Bush's failure to unify his own administration.

'Left' fevers apparently are also the same as Republican 'fevers' in
the Justice Department. Do 'Leftists' control the executive?
(And why do you call a convicted criminal a 'good man'?)

Justice demands
that Bush issue a pardon and lower the curtain on an embarrassing drama
that shouldn't have lasted beyond its opening act.

That would be just more evidence that this administration plays fast
and loose with what you lightly call the truth... and not justice at
all.
Justice came down hard on Mr. Scooter yesterday. He fought the Law and
the Law won.
Case closed.
