[For those alt.politics.* readers unfamiliar with the NBA:
There's been a big controversy recently in the NBA with
the NBA Commissioner rewarding a team that cheats
and plays dirty (Spurs) while punishing a team that
plays clean (Suns). I won't rehash the details, since
basketball fans know them, and non-fans don't care.]
But anyway, here goes:
The actions of the Spurs and the Commissioner are
perfect examples of the American Way. It's the
American Way to reward scumbags, notably by
re-electing them to political office (prime example:
2004 presidential election). It's the American Way
to win by cheating (2000 presidential election/
appointment). So what these people did shouldn't
surprise us; it only reflects the American ethos as
it is today. It's still wrong, but it's all-American.
