Neilsoft founders hit it big
TIMES NEWS NETWORK[ FRIDAY, JANUARY 09, 2004 12:14:29 AM ]
Neilsoft
Founders: Ketan Bakshi, Rupa Shah, Shirish Sathe
Niche: Engineering services and solutions provider
Revenues: Rs 1400 lakh
No of employees: 160
In 1992, while listening to management guru Lester Thurow talk about
the impact of the telecom and communications revolution, young Ketan
Bakshi decided to quit his software job in the US and relocate to
India. His idea was always to set up an engineering design services
company to cater to global clients.
The early days were rather a struggle, which is why the company became
a distributor of CAD/CAM products for a US-company called Autodesk in
1993. By 2000, the distribution business was worth Rs 13 crore. That
was when Bakshi decided he must quit the distribution business and
move into services.
"When we came in we wanted to create a hub to service international
clients. Like most entrepreneurs we had to first establish ourselves
and build capability. Our route took longer but that helped prepare us
better," says Bakshi. Today, the company's largest client (Autodesk)
is the same company whose products Neilsoft used to distribute in
India. Neilsoft also works with clients like DaimlerChrysler and
Delphi.
The company has defined three areas within its niche to focus on. The
first looks at the construction engineering space. Here it has already
developed a micro niche in providing solutions for multi-level parking
structures. The second area looks at the mechanical engineering space
(mechanical CAD), focusing heavily on the automotive sector. In India
it's worked with Bajaj Auto and Sundaram Clayton, though for the past
two years it has been focusing on international clients. The third
area involves design for automation of engineering solutions. Already
the company has developed three products in this area. Bakshi is very
confident that the revenues will start to come in as soon as his
products manage to penetrate the market.

Damn I thought you were going to stop faking you indignation over job losses
to India after all I gave the names of every sell out congressman/person who
had actively sold out Americans. I even challenged you to do as I plan to,
which is vote out anyone on the IndiaPAC caucus list without regard to their
party affiliation. Where do you stand on this topic, I'm betting your only
mad abou thte Republican names on the list even though Demcoprats outnumber
Repubs 2 to 1.
