Neoconservatism means Deficits at Home, Welfare Abroad - Rep. Ron Paul |
November 8, 2005
Deficits at Home, Welfare Abroad
http://www.antiwar.com/paul/?articleid=7939
by Rep. Ron Paul
In the wake of Hurricanes Katrina and Rita, and with an ongoing war in
Iraq that costs more than $1 billion per week, taxpayers might think
Congress has better things to do with $21 billion than send it
overseas. Yet that's exactly what Congress did last Friday, approving
a useless and counterproductive foreign aid spending bill. Never mind
that the total federal debt recently topped $8 trillion, or that a
major U.S. city was virtually destroyed only a few months ago.
"Arrogant" is the only word to describe a Congress that cares so
little about its own taxpaying citizens while pretending to know what
is best for the world.

It was about two weeks ago that Congress voted another $50 billion for Iraq.
Was $1 billion per week earlier in the war.

$218 billion or $1.5 billion a week or $226,141,078.84 per day--the per
day/week cost is actually climbing!
Yes, I measure costs in War in Iraq Weeks, too. Give--yes, just GIVE
every homeless person in the USA a nice apartment and food, about 3 Iraq
War weeks. We have so many social problems that we don't even address in
country, yet Congress just votes more and more money at this disaster
without asking for a ROI.
