FOR THE LATEST FORCED REPATRIATIONS TO CUBA.

Last Friday, December 16, Board members of Net For Cuba
International established direct contact with Mr. Ruppert Missick,
Jr., a Senior Journalist the Bahamas Tribune in an effort to obtain
confirmation on the number of Cuban Nationals that were returned to
Cuba. He was able to confirm that Immigration Authorities
repatriated 28 of the 62 Cubans detained in the Carmichael Road
Detention Center in Nassau, Bahamas.
Later in the day, we spoke to the CAHRA delegate in Nassau, who
visited the center and was able to confirm for us that 3 of the 6
women were sent back to Cuba, among those returned was Eida Year
Caballero and her two small children, Yanelys Acosta Gonz=E1lez, an
activist with the Cuban Pro Human Rights Party affiliated to the
Andrei Sajarov Foundation is one of the women that remain in the
center along with three men, among them her husband Jes=FAs Montes de
Oca Martija, an activist with the same organization.
Net For Cuba International strongly repudiates the Government of the
Bahamas for repatriating these 28 Cubans without properly processing
their claims and for ignoring the pleas of the Cuban Exile Community
who begged them not to do so. These repatriations took place when
Amnesty International and other International Human Rights
Organizations are demanding an urgent and exhaustive investigation
as to the events that transpired at the detention center last
December 9th.
On the same note, we are urgently calling for the High Commissioner
for Refugees of the United Nations to order an immediate halt to all
repatriations of Cuban Nationals presently retained in Nassau for
the Bahamian Government is returning to Cuba the victims and direct
witnesses of the investigation as is the case of Mrs. Yera Caballero
and her two small children; Lianet 7 years of age and Randy 2 years
old, and in doing so the government is openly demonstrating its
degree of responsibility and complicity in these events. The
Bahamian Government knows full well that once the victims and
witnesses are sent back, the Cuban Government will not allow them to
be interviewed by any international human rights organism.
After the incident broke out, The Bahamas Tribune has been in
contact with our organization on a regular basis and time and time
again we pointed out the anger and consternation of the Cuban Exile
Community regarding the wave of unjustified violations unleashed
against our countrymen retained in Nassau. Moreover, we advised
them of the call for a massive boycott to all tourism to the
Bahamas. The Bahamian Government in an open challenge to our
community went ahead and repatriated 28 of the 62 Cubans, thereby
giving us the go ahead to massively boycott all tourism to their
territory.
As additional information, we are sending a copy of the latest
article published by the Bahamas Tribune where a group of Cuban
Americans refused to set foot in Nassau when the Cruise ship
in which they were traveling to Mexico was forced to make a stop at
said port due to a medical emergency. This action constitutes the
first response of the Cuban American community in solidarity with
our countrymen retained in Bahamas.

Cuban Cruise Passengers Refuse To Set Foot In Bahamas
The latest incident follows demonstrations outside a Bahamian
consulate in Miami where protesters urged Cubans and Americans
to boycott the Bahamas due to its alleged human rights violations.
The anger over the treatment of detainees at the Carmichael
Road Detention Centre intensified yesterday when Cuban
passengers on board a cruise ship from Miami refused to set
foot in the Bahamas.
The Carnival cruise ship on route to Cozumel in Mexico was
forced to make an unscheduled stop in Nassau due to a medical
emergency on board, a spokesman for the firm said.
Scores of Cubans refused to leave the ship and spend their time
and money in the Bahamas.
The latest incident follows demonstrations outside a Bahamian
Consulate in Miami where protesters urged Cubans and Americans
to boycott the Bahamas due to its alleged human rights violations."
This declaration was given in Miami, Florida on the 20th day of
December of 2004.

recientes repatriaciones forzadas de cubanos a Cuba.
En comunicaci=F3n directa con miembros de la junta directiva de
nuestra organizaci=F3n, el pasado viernes 16 de diciembre del a=F1o en
curso, el Se=F1or Ruppert Missick, periodista del Bahamas Tribune y
contacto nuestro en Nassau, Bahamas, comunic=F3 de manera extra
oficial, que autoridades de Inmigraci=F3n, hab=EDan repatriado a 28 de
los 62 cubanos que se encontraban detenidos en el Centro de
Detenciones de Carmichael Road en esa naci=F3n caribe=F1a.
Posteriormente pudimos hablar con el delegado de CAHRA en Bahamas
quien visit=F3 el Centro de Detenciones, y nos confirm=F3 que hab=EDan
sido repatriadas 3 de las 6 mujeres existentes, entre las que se
encontraba Eida Yera Caballero y sus dos peque=F1os hijos. Seg=FAn
nuestro contacto de CAHARA, en el campamento de detenci=F3n quedan 3
mujeres, entre las cuales se encuentra Yanelys Acosta Gonz=E1lez,
Activista del Partido Pro Derechos Humanos afiliado a la Fundaci=F3n
Andrei Sajarov y tres hombres, entre ellos su esposo Jes=FAs Montes de
Oca, tambi=E9n del mismo Partido.
Net For Cuba International repudia en=E9rgicamente al Gobierno de
Bahamas por repatriar a estos 28 cubanos sin haberlos procesado
previamente y sin escuchar los pedidos de una comunidad cubana en el
exterior que les pidi=F3 que no lo hicieran. Estas repatriaciones
tienen lugar en momentos en que Amnist=EDa Internacional y dem=E1s
organismos internacionales de derechos humanos, est=E1n demandando una
investigaci=F3n urgente y exhaustiva de los hechos acaecidos el pasado
9 de diciembre en el Centro de Detenci=F3n.
De igual manera, hacemos un llamado urgente al Alto Comisionado
para Refugiados de las Naciones Unidas, a que ordenen de inmediato
un alto en estas repatriaciones, pues con ello el gobierno de
Bahamas, no solamente estar=EDa enviando de regreso a Cuba a los
testigos y v=EDctimas directas que pudieran formar parte de estas
investigaciones, como es el caso de la se=F1ora Eida Caballero y sus
dos peque=F1os hijos Lianet, de 7 a=F1os y Randy de 2, sino que por lo
mismo est=E1 demostrando su grado de responsabilidad y complicidad en
estos acontecimientos. El gobierno baham=E9s est=E1 conciente de que una
vez que estas v=EDctimas y testigos sean devueltos a Cuba, el gobierno
de Fidel Castro no aceptar=E1 que sean entrevistados por ning=FAn
organismo internacional de derechos humanos.
En pasadas declaraciones al diario Bahamas Tribune, nuestra
organizaci=F3n les anticip=F3 el sentir del destierro cubano, ante esta
ola de atropellos injustificados en contra de nuestros compatriotas
en el Centro de Detenci=F3n, as=ED como la voluntad general de nuestro
Exilio de iniciar un boicot masivo a cuantos viajes tur=EDsticos
incluyeran a Bahamas como destino. El gobierno baham=E9s, en abierto
desaf=EDo a nuestra comunidad, repatri=F3 a este grupo de 28 cubanos y
con ello nos ha dado el s=ED al boicot tur=EDstico hacia su territorio.
A continuaci=F3n, y a titulo de informaci=F3n, exponemos =EDntegramente
el art=EDculo publicado en el Bahamas Tribune, donde un grupo de
cubanos que viajaban a Cozumel, M=E9xico, en uno de los barcos de la
compa=F1=EDa de cruceros Carnaval Cruise Lines, ante una emergencia
m=E9dica que obligar=EDa al barco a anclar en el puerto de Nassau,
rehusaron bajarse en dicho puerto constituyendo nuestra primera
respuesta digna y cubana en solidaridad con nuestros compatriotas en
Bahamas:

Pasajeros cubanos rehusaron tocar tierra en Bahamas
El =FAltimo incidente ocurrido despu=E9s de las demostraciones frente
al Consulado de Bahamas en Miami, donde los que protestaban ped=EDan a
los cubanos y americanos que se unieran en un boicot a las Bahamas,
por las supuestas violaciones a los Derechos Humanos. El disgusto
sobre el tratamiento de los detenidos en el Centro de Detenciones de
Carmichael Road, se intensific=F3 en el d=EDa de ayer cuando pasajeros
cubanos a bordo de un crucero que hab=EDa salido de Miami, rehusaron
poner pie en suelo bahamense.
El barco de la l=EDnea de Cruceros Carnaval, que se dirig=EDa a
Cozumel, M=E9xico, se vio forzado a realizar una parada en el puerto
de Nassau, debido a una emergencia m=E9dica a bordo, dijo el portavoz
de la mencionada firma.
Los cubanos a bordo, se negaron a dejar el barco y gastar su tiempo
y dinero en las Bahamas.
Este =FAltimo incidente sucede a ra=EDz de las demostraciones que se
llevaron a cabo frente al Consulado de Bahamas en Miami, donde los
protestantes convocaban a los cubanos y americanos a realizar un
boicot a las Bahamas en respuesta a las alegaciones de violaciones a
los derechos humanos."
