Amman, Jordan, May. 29 (UPI) --
Jordan's Islamic legislators threatened Sunday to vote against a draft
law that gives amnesty to Iraqi Deputy Prime Minister Ahmad Chalabi.
Ali Abu Sukkar, a member of the Islamic Action Front in Parliament,
told UPI:
"Islamic legislators will vote against any amnesty that includes big
political and economic cases, including Chalabi's."
Jordan's State Security Court in 1992 sentenced Chalabi in absentia to
22 years in prison after it convicted him of embezzling more than $200
million while he chaired the now-dissolved local Petra Bank.
