Object: New NBC Poll: Congress Gets Lower Rating Than Bush
Democrats promised to be the most reform-minded Congress in history.
They promised to bring a new standard of ethics to Washington.
A new NBC/Wall Street Journal finds Americans aren't feeling the hype
- and they are giving the new Democratic-controlled Congress its
lowest approval rating yet.
Worse, the congressional approval rating is even less than President
Bush's sagging number.
According to the poll, just 23 percent of Americans approve of the job
Congress is doing.
Bush beats the congressional number by 6 points, pulling in a 29
percent approval rating.
The Democratically-controlled House and Senate have made blocking
President Bush's war on terror, especially his Iraq program, their No.
1 priority.
Apparently, Americans like the Democrats' approach even less the
president's.
Clearly, the country is in an angry, unsettled mood. Only 19 percent
of Americans believe the country is "headed in the right direction,"
while 68 percent say the country is on the "wrong" track.
Despite the low congressional approval rating, the discontentment may
be good news for Democratic presidential candidates.
The NBC poll found that in a hypothetical match-up between Hillary
Clinton and Rudy Giuliani, Hillary would win over Giuliani 48 percent
to 43 percent respectively, if the election were held today.
Similarly, a race between Barack Obama and Fred Thompson would give
Obama the win, 50 percent to 31 percent. Thompson has yet to announce
his candidacy.

99% of Congress is made up of two types: Moderate conservatives and
Right Wing conservatives. They all do the bidding of the wealthy--
and no one else. That's obvious.
This poll clearly reflects the need for true liberal (not the
"pretend" liberal that your right wing radio talk show hosts whine
about -- Hillary Clinton is far from liberal- that's the reality)
leadership.

Polls are strange animals. The source 'n' the allignment of questions,
designed to produce a given result, are a great tool (distraction) for
the culprits who got us into our current malais.
Consider what the current Congress has achieved, in spite of the
opposition which unceasingly tries to undermine achievements of the
mal-administration which controls much of the process:
Nancy Pelosi:
"The 110th Congress is working to make progress for the American
people on the toughest challenges we face. Challenges that have gone
unaddressed for years in Washington. The Democratic-led House is
listening to the American people and providing the New Direction the
people voted for in November. The House has passed a wide range of
measures to strengthen our military, restore accountability, achieve
energy independence and reduce global warming, grow our economy, and
care for our children and families.
The House has had a remarkable level of achievement over the last
months, passing more than 45 key measures - most with a majority of
both Democrats and Republicans.
Unfortunately, the President has been a stubborn opponent of progress
for the American people on these key issues. He opposes or has
threatened to veto 60 percent of the House's work.

D.C. Voting Rights Act - H.R. 1905
This legislation will secure voting rights in the House for the
District of Columbia, permanently expanding the U.S. House of
Representatives from 435 to 437 seats. This provides a vote to the
District of Columbia and a new, at-large seat through the 112th
Congress to the state next entitled to increase its congressional
representation (which, according to the Census, is Utah).

Honest Leadership and Open Government Act - H.R. 2316
This legislation ends the tight-knit relationship between lobbyists

enterprises, meaning they are both created and chartered by Congress
in addition to being private, profit-seeking businesses. It also

dedicate hundreds of millions of dollars for the construction,
maintenance and preservation of affordable housing, with the first
year of the fund to be dedicated to the hurricane stricken areas of

Democrats promised to be the most reform-minded Congress in history.
They promised to bring a new standard of ethics to Washington.

A new NBC/Wall Street Journal finds Americans aren't feeling the hype
- and they are giving the new Democratic-controlled Congress its
lowest approval rating yet.

Worse, the congressional approval rating is even less than President
Bush's sagging number.

According to the poll, just 23 percent of Americans approve of the job
Congress is doing.

Well that sums it up nicely. The people in here arguing how people
don't like Republicans need to learn that people don't like
politicians period.
This will be an interesting presidential election. Congress has
proven that just voting against Republicans doesn't make the masses
happy.
And besides, like all the Democrats have been saying for years, having
one party control the house, senate and white house is unacceptable.
I'm sure they'll all be voting Republican to see that doesn't
happen...

The thing they hate has been the democrats inability to do what they voted
for last November: a US withdrawl from Iraq. The Democrats could have
already forced Bush's hand by stopping all funding for the war but they are
too much of a bunch of ***** wimps to do it for fear of the next elections
attack ads for them not supporting the troops. Serious campaign reform has
to include a ethics committee and monetary limits to campaigning. They could
have called for Cheney, Gonzales, Bush's resignation and impeachment but
they are playing standard politics by playing it safe. With the worst

corruption and it seems that none of them have the balls to stand up and

Well having the balls to do it is part of the equation, but there is

In addition, they showed their ***** by putting a pullout stipulation in

My hobby would be to have crimes against humanity exposed and brought
before a world tribunal. Impeachment is meant to stop the abuse in
its tracks. A "stopgap measure", if you like.
Did you expect no one would respond to your diatribe??? You posed a
scenario. I produced a response. I thought you were interested in
the subject, since you brought it up!!!-:)

TELL BUSH:

CONFUCIOUS SAY: "YOUR JOB IS TO GOVERN, NOT TO KILL"!!!

I SAY: "MURDERER"!!!! and have no problem supporting that label of a
VERY EVIL MAN!!! If there is such an entity as an agent of Beelzebub,
or Beelzebub, ITSELF, surely it takes shape in the body 'n' mind of a
p-Resident who was foisted upon us by coup and the strengthing of a
malfeasant court.

The anti-Christ was to come to us promising Peace (A more humble foreign
policy? No nation-building?), but once in power would unleash the
apocalypse. There's no doubt in my mind who Bush is.

I side with the 4 million Iraqi refugees who have fled their homes and

paying for this fiasco. I side with those very few courageous
