Oil closes above $60 to reach a record

By Myra P. Saefong
6/27/2005

SAN FRANCISCO (MarketWatch) --
The front-month contract for crude-oil futures closed above $60 a
barrel for the first time Monday, with analysts attributing the record
level to strong demand and concern about tension in the Middle East
after Iran elected a new president.
Prices for August crude were quoted as high as $61 in New York
earlier, but the exchange threw out the trade.
Still, the official $60.95 high is the highest intraday price for a
front-month contract, and prices closed at $60.54, up 70 cents.

Sure but how does that make $3.20 a gallon good for the economy.
Thats like saying a 40 cent US dollar is good as long as you trade foreign
currencies.

The economy is what you make of it. If I've got enough money, the economy
can't beat me. How do you think the economy is affecting Bill Gates, Warren
Buffet, Ted Turner. Wise up, Dude. Politics ain't reality. It's a game the

Well 'dude', I am aware of those realities but thats the good thing about
not having money worries, you can actually care about other people along the
way.
If more people gave a *****, then perhaps the big boys wouldn't have their

Let me just level with you horses asses. In 1958 I caught a ***** raping a
white girl. I was 20. I beat the hell out of him. Then I tied his naked *****
to a tree and shot him in the balls with a BB gun for over an hour. Then I
cut off his balls and his ***** and made him eat them. And I left him there
to die. I did 40 years for that and I've been raped, stomped, stabbed and
shot. Now, if you little pissants think for a fucking minute I am going to
be afraid of being mugged, or afraid of a bunch of internet word warriors
you are as stupid as you show yourselves to be. And all the while I was
doing my time, my ***** on the outside was investing a little money left to
me by my family and thanks to her, I came out pretty well off. I am a self
centered *****. I'm also a cat that can take care of himself and not some
pansy assed coward that has to cower behind a phony name. So all you
cowardly little whiners out there that can't make a life without a
government nanny, ***** you. And if you want a piece of me, you know where to
get it.

Just because my investment in COS_UN.TO has more than doubled since I got
into it last August and my CNQ stock has nearly doubled since December (and
my overweight in energy portfolio doing very well) does not make up for the
the concern I have for the utter clusterfuck the Boy King is leading us to
down the road. Investing these days is like shooting fish in a barrel with
the idiot in chief. All you have to do is find Canadian oil companies with
long-lived reserves and you got a hedge against coming peak oil crisis and
this misadministrations ongoing clusterfuck. However, I would gladly trade
my energy gains for a balanced budget rather than having the Chinese holding
all our treasuries; no stupid invasion in Iraq; a healthy economy with a
growing manufacturing sector, growing wage base and a shrinking trade
deficit; and an energy policy that lessens our dependence on oil (and our
financing of both sides of the War on Terror) and develops alternative
energy sources so when peak oil does hit, the transistion will be smoother.
In the meantime I'll just hedge against Bush's stupidity and ride the storm
out. If Bush does something really stupid like bomb Iran, we will both make
money. The difference between us is that you will be happy about it and I
will wonder how we will ever get out of this fucking mess.
