The legislation would grant undocumented workers who came into the
country before January a permit to remain. They could then apply for a
new, four-year "Z Visa," renewable indefinitely, as long as they pay a
$5,000 fine, a $1,500 processing fee, show a clean work record and pass
a criminal background check (even though they entered the US illegally,
so are criminals).

What's in it for us? You know, "we the people (who were born or otherwise
live here legally)". Here's what's in it for us:
* More competition for housing (higher housing costs).
* More competition for jobs (lower wages).
* More deaths from drunk drivers. After all, if you're inclined to ignore
one law (ie. being here legally), you're probably inclined to ignore others
as well (ie. driving with a license, driving sober, etc.).
* There's a saying that there's courage in numbers, and with the number of
illegal aliens estimated between 12-20 *M*illion (with an "M") and growing
by at least 4,000 a *day*, it won't be long before the yearly May Day
demonstrations turn violent.
This is a serious problem that needs to be confronted with open eyes - not
by amnesty, but by simple enforcement of existing laws. It's very
convenient for politicians to sweep away the problem by changing laws to
frame the issue as no longer an issue... but this is cheap, cowardly,
short-sighted and treasonous. The public should be outraged that this
nonsense is even being considered.

That explains why convicted drunk drivers Bush
and Cheney are for it, anyway.........

There should be essentially no immigration at all into america. Maybe if
the applicant is a doctor or engineer but letting unskilled or
semiskilled people in does america no good. It's allowed because
businesses like the cheap illegal labor and they pay off the congressmen.

The Bi-Partisan Neocon Amnesty Sellout Bill... is not a sure thing.
The dumbocrat leadership are going to have to scrape up 60 republicon
votes in the House to pass it.
Why? Because there are quite a few democrats that ain't gonna vote for
that treasonous dog of a bill, either.
If there ever was a time for people to email their representatives -
expressing their outrage at neocon elitists selling out the american
workers that they are supposed to be protecting - this weekend is it.
