Where does Bush get this executive privilege BS? It's not in the
constitution and that means it doesn't exist. And yes i know bush is
not the first to invoke this anti-constitutional "right".

Just "don't" get the legal papers. Most states have very strict
requirements about what constitutes valid service of legal papers -
and a popular trick around here used by deadbeats is to just not go to
the door if they see a deputy sheriff there as he likely is there to
serve them with a lawsuit over some bill.

Executive privilege is the power claimed by the President of the
United States and other members of the executive branch to resist
certain search warrants and other interventions by the legislative and
judicial branches of government. The concept of executive privilege is
not mentioned in the United States Constitution, but some consider it
to be an element of the separation of powers doctrine, and/or derived
from the supremacy of executive branch in its own area of
Constitutional activity.
Chief Justice Burger, writing for the majority in US v. Nixon noted:
"Whatever the nature of the privilege of confidentiality of
Presidential communications in the exercise of Article II powers, the
privilege can be said to derive from the supremacy of each branch
within its own assigned area of constitutional duties. Certain powers
and privileges flow from the nature of enumerated powers; the
protection of the confidentiality of Presidential communications has
similar constitutional underpinnings.United States v. Nixon, 418 U.S.
683 (1974)
Go ahead and claim your CITIZEN PRIVILEGE if you ever get subpoenaed
by the court. SCOTUS has made a ruling on Executive Privilege. Maybe
you can get the ACLU to file an amicus brief on your behalf.
In the meantime, you better buy a carton of cigarettes so you bribe
the prison guards or barter with fellow inmates.

As far as Harriet Meiers is concerned, the only
'privilege' concerned is the refusal to attend. She, as
the president's lawyer, has absolute privilege of
confidentiallity without restriction. That committee is
trying to hassle the administration to no good purpose.

One big flaw in your thinking. President's have Executive Privilege,
you don't have "Citizen's Privilege."
The President is empowered to make decisions granted by the
Constitution. Congress has the right to question his decisions. In
the case of the Federal Attorneys firings, that's the Executive's
privilege. Unless any laws were violated, it's a done deal.

Everything said in front of *anyone's* lawyer is
"privileged" and may not be divulged by the lawyer
no matter what the tribunal.
Conyers, as a lawyer should know better, but he thinks
