No jail for GOP Congressman caught w loaded gun at airport |

LOUISVILLE, Ky. (AP) - A congressman who brought a loaded gun into
Louisville International Airport received a 60-day jail sentence, but
will not have to serve it unless he has other criminal troubles during
the next two years.
Under terms of his plea agreement, Rep. John Hostettler, a Republican
of Indiana, also has surrendered his Glock 9 mm semiautomatic handgun,
which screeners found April 20 as he was heading for a US Airways
flight to Washington.
At the time, Hostettler, who had a permit for the gun, said he had
forgotten he had placed the gun in the briefcase.
Hostettler, who represents the 8th District in southwestern Indiana,
did not attend Monday's sentencing hearing in Jefferson District Court
in Louisville. He had reached the plea agreement earlier this month.
David Schuler, Hostettler's attorney, said his client was "pleased to
put this behind him and focus on other things."
Under terms of his plea agreement, Hostettler, 43, also cannot carry a
gun in Kentucky or buy a gun anywhere except in Indiana and the
District of Columbia for the next two years.

All congressmen SHOULD start doing it. They deserve special protection
as your lawmakers and should be exempt from all laws, just like Teddy
was exempt when he murdered Mary Jo.
