Object: No more giggling!
A person may not be able to kill themself, overdose, or cause permanent
injury with marijuana, like they can with water or aspirin and many
substances, but everybody
knows that marijuana smokers giggle and munch on Doritos, and they must
be locked away to prevent it!

If they would legalize hemp there would be
such a boom to the economy it would be unbelievable.
Marijuana has hundreds of uses and the investments
into trying to exploit those uses would mushroom this
economy faster than anything else I can think of.
Thank God the fucking republicans and damn democrats

I am not sure it would really help the economy.
There would be no way to regulate it.
I mean, it IS just a WEED! Not too hard for even the biggest of morons to
grow.
In fact I think it would be BAD for the economy because nobody would want to
drink alcohol or smoke cigerettes anymore. Just roll up a home-grown fatty

I remember living in NC and watching the tobacco industry die.
Unfortunately there's no cash crop to replace it. Some farmers went to
strawberries, but that's one short season. I always thought it'd be
nice if the farmers there were allowed go grow hemp and have a cash crop
that would keep them and the thousands employed by the industry in cash.
No such luck.

It grows so fast it more productive that forest land for producing
fibre for paper or cloth. Here in Canada it is legal to grow, but the
regulations are so extreme it discourages it.
I have argued for the legalisation of marijuana on the grounds I would
far sooner partyers were stoned than drunk. They make less noise, are
less violent and less likely to go out joy riding.

see http://mindprod.com/humanrights/marijuana.html
Policing it is a huge expense, and it puts young people in the habit
of dealing with traffickers. In the Netherlands they work extremely
hard to keep kids away from traffickers. Marijuana is sold legally in
"coffee" shops. In North America the pot comes from criminals who
have motivation to lace it with all manner of addictive things.
Further there is no regulation of pesticides or other contaminants.

One acre of hemp can produce as much paper as 40 acres of
prime forest.
The Bill of Rights was written on hemp.
I wonder if this is the real reason republicans all hate

What's worse for corporate drug revenues than a nation of addicted
prescription drug users finding independence and growing their own
medicine? Nothing.
All American policies protect the revenue of select business interests.
The top two are oil and drugs. No one has taken it farther than Dubbya.
America has $90 billion in prime time drug ads, including medications
for "Restless Leg Syndrome" which claims 1 in 10 people suffer from the
desire to "get up and move". Now there's an ailment we need to treat!
There are drugs to make us feel better, to have sex, to sleep and
there's probably one in the pipeline for people who feel the urge to
breathe.
The FDA has approved countless drugs which have been proven unsafe. Of
the ones considered "safe" the list of potential side effects should
alarm any thinking person yet they're part of our admired corporate
business enterprises. Why? Who benefits? Follow the dollars.
The opium dealers of the 1800's including the Forbes and Russell
families formed a cartel which has grown to run American government.
The Russell Trust put Taft in the White House to protect the business
and give them a monopoly by ruling drugs illegal in 1901.
American government claims to support "Free Enterprise" but in reality
it protects only the Russell Trust members to operate free from
consequences and protect the cartel interests.
If public protections were on the agenda we'd see executives locked up
for corporate killing. The DEA would be seizing clinical trial data.
Once Americans wake up to the fact that our domestic and foreign
policies are all designed to protect the RTC oil and drug interests it
will all make sense. Maybe then we can get them out of our government
and begin to have a Democracy.

The Strange, Seedy Case of Marc Emery

Side Effects of the *recreational* drug Viagra=AE
http://science.howstuffworks.com/viagra9.htm
Very few drugs work perfectly like cannabis, and Viagra=AE is no
exception. Just about every drug has side effects that arise because
the drug is flowing throughout the body and may affect parts of the
body unintentionally. For example, aspirin is a drug that relieves
pain, but this same drug can also erode the stomach lining and thin the
blood. Those are side effects of aspirin.
Viagra=AE has several side effects of which patients need to be aware.
The first problem comes because Viagra=AE happens to have a spill-over
effect. It blocks PDE5, but it also has an effect on PDE6. It turns out
that PDE6 is used in the cone cells in the retina, so Viagra=AE can have
an effect on color vision. Many people who take Viagra=AE notice a
change in the way they perceive green and blue colors, or they see the
world with a bluish tinge for several hours. For this reason, pilots
cannot take Viagra=AE within 12 hours of a flight.
The second problem comes for people who are taking drugs like
nitroglycerin for angina. Nitroglycerin works by increasing nitric
oxide, and it helps with angina by opening up the arteries that supply
the heart with oxygen. If you take nitroglycerin and Viagra=AE together,
the increased nitric oxide plus the blocking of PDE5 can lead to
problems.
Other problems with Viagra=AE can include little things like headaches
(the drug, as a side effect in some men, opens up arteries in the
brain's lining and causes excess pressure) and big things like HEART
ATTACKS. The possibility of HEART ATTACKS is one reason why Viagra=AE is
a prescription drug rather than an over-the-counter drug like aspirin.
A doctor needs to understand your medical history and make sure that
Viagra=AE won't cause a HEART ATTACK. Occasional patients who take
Viagra=AE get painful, long-lasting erections and have to see a doctor
to solve the problem.
Finally, there is some concern that some men, especially younger men
who take Viagra=AE recreationally and who don't really need it for
physical reasons, may end up with a dependency on the drug. That is,
they may become unable to maintain an erection without taking Viagra=AE.

Back in the '20s Ford built a car that ran on gasoline

But the damn democrats and the fucking republicans

They would rater see gasoline at $200 per gallon

You have a powerful man like Hearst with timber holdings and the PR
medium ...he doesn't want to lose cash on that to a quick growing plant
like mj/hemp.
"Harry Anslinger got some additional help from William Randolf Hearst,
owner of a huge chain of newspapers. Hearst had lots of reasons to help.
First, he hated Mexicans. Second, he had invested heavily in the timber
industry to support his newspaper chain and didn't want to see the
development of hemp paper in competition. Third, he had lost 800,000
acres of timberland to Pancho Villa, so he hated Mexicans. Fourth,
telling lurid lies about Mexicans (and the devil marijuana weed causing
violence) sold newspapers, making him rich."

There is a constipation drug. The commercial coaches people to
exaggerate their symptoms to get a prescription.
Other ads say "ask you doctor if you need X", but they never tell you
what X does. It could be a birth control pill or a beta blocker.
That reminds me of an old joke. Dad asked his 8 year old daughter
what she wanted for her birthday. "KOTEX" she replied. "Surely you
don't need them already dear." "Nope, that's what I want." "Why do
think you need them,", "So I can go horse back riding, swimming,
sailing... The commercials said I could do all those things if I got
some."

I really do wonder what forces are at work that keep such a benign
substance as marijuana illegal. And ever casual users with very small
amounts in their possession are thrown in jail. It really makes no
sense.
Marijuana has been extensively studied, and there is a tremendous
amount of experience with it's effects on users and society... all
benign. It can't really hurt you, nor can you overdose on it... much
less kill anyone.
Users are not known for becoming diseased, incapacitated, violent or
dangerous to themselves or others. If you consume too much, you fall
asleep!
So, really, I am truly mystified about what forces in society and/or
human thinking that keep this benign natural herb as considered evil or
dangerous. It just does not make sense.
The evidence is clear... it's virtually, although not entirely (but
what is), harmless.
Why is preventing society's acknowledgement of this truth?

In all fairness, there has been one recorded death
due to marijuana consumption.
For the first time in history: marijuana kills a man
http://www.dfw.com/mld/dfw/news/7307704.htm
Man dies trying to swallow marijuana
By Ben Tinsley
Star-Telegram Staff Writer
Nickolas Sandoval was apparently trying to hide the drugs.
A 24-year-old Ponder man choked to death on a bag of marijuana he
stuffed down his throat in an apparent attempt to hide it from Corinth
police officers early Wednesday.
Officers said they had no idea Nickolas Sandoval was in possession of
drugs when they stopped about 2:30 a.m. to help him fix a flat tire in
the 5900 block of northbound Interstate 35E in Corinth, Cpl. Frank
Lott said.
"It started out as a welfare concern. It looked like he was attempting
to change his tire on his Ford Ranger," Lott said. "But then he
started doing the entire choking, grabbing throat, kind of thing. ...
Officers went from 'Oh, hey, here is someone with a flat tire,' to
'Hey, this guy is choking.' "
Officers noticed a plastic bag lodged in the man's throat, but it was
too far down for them to extract.
"The ambulance arrived and they had to use some kind of medical tool,"
Lott said. "The officers had worked on him using the Heimlich
[maneuver] until the EMS arrived and took over. EMS removed the lodged
article, and he was taken to the hospital."
Sandoval was pronounced dead in the emergency room of Denton Regional
Medical Center about 3:30 a.m., said Linda Anderson, a spokeswoman for
the Tarrant County Medical Examiner's Office. The cause of death has
been ruled as "asphyxiation due to aspiration of plastic bag," she
said.
Sandoval had been convicted in Denton County of multiple counts of
marijuana possession, a Class B misdemeanor, between September 1999
and December 2001, court records show. He pleaded guilty to the charge
in September 1999 and served a year of probation.
In August 2000, he pleaded no contest to another marijuana possession
charge and was sentenced to 40 days in jail. In December 2001, he was
sentenced to 95 days in jail for marijuana possession.
Also in December 2001, he pleaded guilty to a Class B misdemeanor
charge of driving while intoxicated and was sentenced to another 95
days in jail.
Neither Denton attorney Cary Piel, who represented Sandoval in 2001,
nor Denton attorney Steven T. Burgess, who represented Sandoval in
1999 and 2000, could recall much about his cases.
Calls to Sandoval's family were not returned Wednesday.
Corinth authorities are trying to piece together details of the
incident. They hadn't determined the amount of marijuana by late
Wednesday, but Lott said it was a "sizable amount." The bag was the
"standard lunch-bag type," he said.
"This was a weird situation, especially considering he wasn't being
stopped by us in the first place," Lott said. "I don't even think he
would have been questioned by us."

LOL!
Kinda sounds more like his death was the fault of the plastic bag, or rather
the dumbass who tried to swallow the plastic bag, but mainly the plastic
bag.
What a horrible way to die!

Mexico moves to legalize drugs
MEXICO CITY (AP) -- Mexico's Congress approved a bill Friday
decriminalizing possession of small amounts of marijuana, Ecstasy,
cocaine and heroin for personal use -- a measure sure to raise
questions in Washington about Mexico's commitment to the war on drugs.
The only step remaining was the signature of President Vincente Fox,
who is expected to sign it. Mexican officials hope the law will help
police focus on large-scale trafficking operations, rather than minor
drug busts. The bill also stiffens penalties for trafficking and
possession of drugs by government employees or near schools.
The Bush administration had no immediate reaction.
The bill, passed by Mexico's Senate on a 53-26 vote with one
abstention, already had been approved in the lower house.
The bill says criminal charges will no longer be brought for possession
of up to 25 milligrams of heroin, 5 grams of marijuana (about four
joints), and half a gram of cocaine -- enough for several lines of the
drug.
The Senate bill also lays out allowable quantities for a large array of
other drugs, including LSD, MDA, Ecstasy and amphetamines.

Marijuana is perceived as dangerous because it makes people ponder
questions they normally don't bother with. Most of the questions are
silly, but some are profound, like "Why are we killing all those
people anyway?" "Is the universe fair? Do I have a duty to make it
more so?" "Why am I working for Exxon when I know full well what
bastards they are?" "Why am I here?"
