No, you are not permitted to manufacture or import assault weapons. |
A dozen Republican senators voted for one or both of the provisions,
allowing minority Democrats to gain the victories.
The assault weapons measure would renew the ban on the manufacture and
importation of at least 19 types of common military-style assault
weapons for 10 years.
The current ban expires on Sept. 13.
The "gun show loophole" measure would require all buyers at private
gun shows to go through a government background check.
Under current law, unlicensed gun dealers at private shows are not
required to ask for government background checks before selling
weapons.
Supporters argued that in that way people who normally wouldn't be
able to buy guns can get dangerous weapons.
"Criminals and terrorists are exploiting this obvious loophole in our
gun safety laws," said Sen. John McCain, R-Arizona.
A few Republicans voted with the Democrats on both of their measures,
most notably Senate Armed Services Chairman John Warner of Virginia.
Warner, who voted against the gun ban in 1994, said the pleading from
his constituents and law enforcement officials from around his state
persuaded him to vote for renewing the assault weapons ban.
"We hear you, Mr. and Mrs. America," Warner said.
"You sent us a message, and the Senate responded. We hear you, law
enforcement, you sent us a message, and the Senate responded."

Senate OKs Assault Weapons Ban Extension
By JESSE J. HOLLAND
WASHINGTON -
The Senate agreed Tuesday to extend a ban on military-style assault
weapons and to require background checks for all buyers at private gun
shows, defying the gun industry, the White House and the Senate's own
Republican leaders.

Hope, are you as stupid and moronic as you try to make out to be? The
ban your speaking of numbnuts, CANNOT be extended as to do so would
cause the "posion pill" that was included in it to activate and as
such invalidate the whole law. That was the only way they could get it
passed and even Bill Clinton ADMITTED to this when he signed it! So
the question you need to ask is why are they trying to extend this
when they know in doing so it will destroy the original bill?

*****! I will NOT take my private weapons and have to wait on some
moron to tell me if I can sell my property to another person or not.
And one thing you dipsticks are forgetting is that most of the Gun
shows take place on weekends. Hence to get around that is to go to the
show after 5pm and then buy a gun and if they cannot get you an answer
in 48 hours, then you get the gun...ok dumbass, how are you going to
get an answer from a government official that went home at 5pm and
will not be back into the office for almost 52 hours? DO you even TRY
to understand what your stealing in your hysterical attempt to smear
anyone with ideas to the right of your pathetic self?

Are you really that ignorant? According to the BATF...ALL dealers are
licensed unless they are selling from their private collection. In
short you blithering Jackass, there is NO SUCH THING AS AN UNLICENSED
DEALER!!!! Contact your local BATF office and ask them, or contact the
people at the US DOJ http://www.doj.gov and ask them

See above response to this stupid remark
"Criminals and terrorists are exploiting this obvious loophole in our

Says the guy that has decimated the DNC's money making ability with
Campaign Reform...and isnt it suprising that theyse dummycrats still
quote him?

Ever hear of sarcasm? the latest Zogby Poll clearly shows that over
80% of the American Public does not think this "law" did any good and
that instead of making new laws, you should enforce the ones already
on the damned books!
"You sent us a message, and the Senate responded. We hear you, law
enforcement, you sent us a message, and the Senate responded."
The rest of this pitiful rant is snipped for sanity's sake. What Harry
the Liar is not telling you is that you had over 10 Senators that are
on the HCI/Brady Campaign's own Board of Directors (Feinstein and
Boxer are two) and yet Feinstein was trying to get this passed when
she knew damn well and good that she was violating Senate Rules.
Just goes to show how desperate they are when they violate the rules
and then whine about someone else supposedly violating the same rules
they did.
Not to mention that the bill as a whole was voted down 92-8 as they
needed the House to pass it also and the House refuses to pass this as
it stood.
Isnt it funny that these people can use an utter defeat and then try
to spin it as a victory?
