And of course the family can't make the payments and are begging for
help for their own mind-boggling stupidity. Article doesn't say if they
were illegal aliens but since neither the man nor his wife can speak
english, you have to suspect they are. No more muds in america, i say.
Lengthy article.

Given their total income, they estimated that they could afford payments of
$3,000 a month. They spotted an ad in the local magazine La Ganga for Maria
Avila of Rancho Grande Real Estate and called her.
"We wanted to live in Watsonville," says Rosa. "But [the real estate agent]
said the houses there were older and more expensive." One of the first homes
they were shown was a "new" four-bedroom, two-bath house in Hollister for
$720,000. When the Ramirez's heard the price, they worried that they
couldn't afford it.
But the couple says that their real estate agent and broker reassured them
it was possible. "The monthly payment was supposed to be $4,800, but then
after we bought it, it went up to $5,378," says Rosa, speaking of their
zero-down mortgage with a one-month "teaser rate."

Nevermind how berry pickers making $300 per week can afford a $720,000
house, even with another couple.

No worry. The Democrats in Congress are already working on a deal to save all the
people that bought houses they couldn't afford at the taxpayers' expense. After
all, they shouldn't have to suffer for their own stupidity, should they? Actually
the stupid ones seem to be those people that only buy what they can afford.
Incidentally, how does a berrypicker afford a $4800 per month payment?....AAC
Giving the Democrat's power is like giving a 3 year old a Driver's License.
They will Crash and burn and destroy themselves. They don't deserve the privilege

Some lenders are playing games. Even if people want to buy homes that
they can't afford, it is incumbent on the loan maker to prevent the
loan. It is difficult to believe, as well, that all homes within 50
miles of their home cost more than $720,000.

Since there is only one CEO and many more than hundreds more workers, is
that sort of pay really going to affect the bottom line? Also, a
corporation can't do without a CEO, can't do without people running the
company. How on earth would it work if just the people "working" were
there and no one was making decisions?

So what? I don't believe that any man is worth a million dollars per
year. If you can't get one person to do what the guy is /supposed/ to
be doing, I bet three or four people could.
We need a steeply progressive taxation system to curb the greedy
bastards. That will force them to either invest in the company or the
workers, since more pay for execs will just end up in Uncle Sugar's
pocket anyway.

Then *you* shouldn't pay anyone a million dollars per year. That's the
rub of this, innit? You want to dictate to others how much they will pay
someone, and if it's "too much", you will confiscate it. That doesn't
sound like a very free society you advocate. I think having some folks
paid too much is minor compared to your remedy.

If you can't get one person to do what the guy is /supposed/ to
be doing, I bet three or four people could.

You probably could find four people to be CEO. The issue is whether or
not to confiscate their earnings.

We need a steeply progressive taxation system to curb the greedy
bastards. That will force them to either invest in the company or the
workers, since more pay for execs will just end up in Uncle Sugar's

So what's the incentive to earn more if the government is just going to
take it away? Many of the CEOs make their big money on stock options and
other means that are in fact part of investment in the company.

Go away Bonde. You're stupid.

Actually I'm not stupid.

How dare anyone disagree with you? Sacrosanct in a free society is the
ability to freely debate issues. That's one reason why the people who
hate America are allowed to continue to post their materials here even
from the United States. If you want to confiscate wages you think are
"too much" and you want to muzzle people who disagree with you, perhaps
you'd be happier in a totalitarian dictatorship. I'm sorry to tell but
Saddam is dead.

I think Americans should organize a "job-sharing" cooperative, in which
they each agree to forego one day's salary at their regular jobs and,
instead, devote that day to working (for the wage normally paid

or maybe crop harvesting, roofing and brick-laying, that sort of thing.
That would eliminate the demand for non-American labor.
