Norma McCovey, the "Jane Roe" of Roe v Wade fame, has been back in the
news again; still leading the fight to have this horrific ruling
overturned. This woman has been directly responsible for the slaughter
of untold millions. Her dedication to the pro-life cause seems akin to
Heinrich Himmler leading kaddish at Auschwitz. Ms. McCovey best hope
that atheists are right about God and the here-after because if they
aren't, she's going to roast down yonder.

If only Roe v. Wade held up constitutionally.

Your side lost.

Get over it.

The constitution lost....
Nationalizing the abortion issue by claiming abortion is in the
constitution, and thus imposing the most liberal abortion laws on all 50
states, was the best way to make sure the issue won't go away, since so
many people in so many states were hugely unhappy with the result.
Abortion never used to be an issue for presidential elections. Now it
will never go away, because of the arrogant Supreme Court decision in
1973.
Liberals have the best track record on decisive politics, mainly because
liberal ***** judges have never been held accountable for their lies and
abuse of power.

Why are you blaming it on liberals? It was
a Republican-dominated Supreme Court that wrote
the decision, and it has been Republican-dominated
Courts that have upheld it for the last 30 years.

If only Roe v. Wade held up constitutionally.

Dred Scott was revisited; Roe vs. Wade may be revisited too.
In fact, it probably will be; please choose your position.
I select [2] as being the most likely, though it depends on
the nominees Bush picks and of course the actual case brought
before the Court (which might be well after Bush leaves office!) --
there may be as many as 4 retirements prior to 2008, especially
since the Honorable Justice William Rehnquist is in treatment for
thyroid cancer.
[1] Status quo, Roe v. Wade et al reconfirmed and no changes to the
existing system.
[2] Supremes ignore the issue on a technicality and/or stare decisis.
[3] Roe v. Wade overturned; some states immediately pass anti-abortion
laws, and other states leave theirs alone; ultimately the
Supreme Court passes on whether it is legal to restrict
travel from state to state for the purpose of procuring
an operation which is illegal in the source state.
[3a] It is illegal to travel from one state to another in
order to do something considered illegal in the first state.
(See also [4].)
[3b] It is not illegal to travel from one state to another
in order to do something considered illegal in the first state.
[3b1] It is illegal to travel from one state to another
to procure an abortion for a minor.
[3b2] It is not illegal to travel from one state to another
to procure an abortion for a minor.
(See also [4].)
[4] Roe v. Wade overturned in such a fashion as to allow a partial
or total federal ban.
[4a] Rape and incest exception allowed.
[4a1] Rape alleged, prior to procedure granting.
[4a2] Rape proven (in open court), prior to procedure granting.
[4a3] Rape proven, perpetrator identified, prior to procedure
granting.
[4a4] Rape proven, perpetrator caught (or perhaps killed) [*],
prior to procedure granting.
[4a5] Rape proven, perpetrator tried and convicted, prior to
procedure granting.
[4a6] Rape proven, perpetrator tried and convicted and
sentence served, prior to procedure granting.
(Note: California law requires at least 3 year's
sentence for rape, and therefore effectively
denies the procedure. Penal code, section 264.)
[4b] Rape and incest exception denied.
[4b1] Health alleged, prior to procedure granting.
[4b2] Health evaluated, prior to procedure granting.
[4b3] Health evaluated by a licensed doctor in her or
her guardian's hire [+], prior to procedure granting.
[4b4] Health evaluated by independent medical team,
prior to procedure granting.
[4b5] Health evaluated by independent medical team,
and all court challenges (up to, if necessary,
Supreme Court) sustained, prior to procedure granting.
[4b6] Health denied.
[4bx1] Health includes mental/psychological.
[4bx2] Health does not include mental/psychological.
[5] Constitutional Amendment that would allow a total federal ban.
(AIUI, this is in the works, and has been for 30 years.)
(Did I miss any? :-) )
Note that none of these assumes anything at all about
whether a religion (hers? her guardian's? his?) considers
an abortion to be the termination of a baby's life or not.
I'm not quite sure how to factor that in -- and it's not
all that relevant for a secular legal system, barring
something really weird happening in the meantime.

There are other decisions, as well. Doe v. Bolton, for example.

Liberals have the best track record on decisive politics, mainly because
liberal ***** judges have never been held accountable for their lies and
abuse of power.

So hold 'em accountable by voting them out. Duh.
[*] the subbranches can get a little weird, if the perp is, say,

That's because they don't care what OTHER people's religious beliefs are.

Should they? After all, we all "know" that the One True Truth(tm)
is that the unborn preborn little innocent child baby foetus
thingy is Infinitely Precious(tm), and that moms who get
abortions to kill it are eeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeevil.
Of course, one wonders how eeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeevil it is to
intrude on the private lives of the citizenry in order to
enforce these notions. And here I thought the Republicans
were all for independent ownership of everything and
self-determination -- except where women are involved, I guess.
Does this seem consistent to anyone else? It sure doesn't look
all that consistent to me. The pro-choice position has its
problems, admittedly (sex-selection? abortion safety?
possibility of aborting Einstein -- or Hitler?) but at least
it doesn't require the police to arrest an arbitrary woman
coming out of a clinic. (Unless that woman owns the clinic,
perhaps, and it's been shut down and she no longer has a
license to practice. Different issue, and in that case,
they'd have a very clear notion of whom to arrest, and on
what charges.)

into la-la land, to join his so-called "pro-life" hypocrites, most of
whom are no doubt Bushites (or maybe just shites) who support the
slaughter of literally thousands of children in Iraq. They could have
saved these lives by keeping Bush out of office and the US out of Iraq,
but no, so by this Young punk's own logic, they're directly responsible
for those deaths.
And maybe they're directly responsible for the deaths of literally
millions of children from malaria in Africa, all for the want of
insecticide and medication.
And they're certianly responsible for the deaths of literally thousands
of people through the ages - deaths brought about wantonly and
intentionally by Christians in various purges, witch-hunts and
crusades.
And how about those deaths the Catholics let Hitler get away with int
he forties?

Her dedication to the pro-life cause seems akin to
Heinrich Himmler leading kaddish at Auschwitz. Ms. McCovey best hope
that atheists are right about God and the here-after because if they
aren't, she's going to roast down yonder.

Actually, no - all she has to do is ask for forgiveness on her death
bed, and she will join Hernan Cortes, Napoleon Bonaparte, Adolf Hitler
and Chingis Khan for all eternity in heaven, alongside history's
bloodiest despot - god himself, who, by the Bible's own account,
slaughtered nations of people, and on one occasion, the entire
population of a planet.

More blind blather from a blind believer, but why are we surprised that
a addict of a robot religion wants to turn everyone else into robots,
too? Why am I surprised at the hypocrisy of these people? They follow
one of the bloodiest cults in history and have the gall to whine about
what they perceive as injustice!
The anti-abortionists are nothing but sadists. They want to bring
endless unwanted children into the world and then sit by and watch them
suffer. For if they truly wanted to end abortion, as most people
ultimately do, they would be setting up a societal infrastructure which
would obviate the necessity for it.
You need to read Newsweek for the week of January 24th, page 79,
"Connecting the Dots", where Anna Quindlen discusses Mississippi, a
state with 3m population, only one abortion clinic and the strictest
abortion laws in the US. After instituting these laws, the number of
second-trimester abortions increased by 50%. Now they've passed a bill
than bans abortions after the first trimester.
Despite this, Mississippi has the highest infant mortality rate in the
US and ranks 43rd in states regarding the number of women who have
health insurance.
Average income there is $31K. The cost of raising a child to age 18 is
$200K. Nationwide, teen birth-rate has been declining. Not in
Mississippi, where 200 children were born to girls under age 15 in 2001
22 of every 1,000 children there are abused or neglected. Where's your
concern for these? Why aren't you bitching about that, instead of
demanding that an endless parade of unwanted children be delivered to
face poverty, abuse, child molestation and neglect?
Blacks in Mississippi represent only 37% of the population, but 75% of
the abortions. A black woman earns only less than 4/5 what a white
woman earns. Mississipi has the highest percent of population living
below the poverty line, the highest percentage of women in prison,
which increased more than 13% recently. You want to abuse these women
more? Of course you do. You're a fundie. That's what fundies do.
