U.S. Warns North Korea Missile Test Would Be `Provocative'
June 17 (Bloomberg) -- The U.S. warned North Korea against testing a long-
range ballistic missile that may be capable of hitting Alaska, saying that
such an act would be ``provocative.''
``Our diplomacy and that of our allies has made clear to North Korea that a
missile launch would be a provocative act that is not in their interest and
will further isolate them from the world,'' State Department spokesman Sean
McCormack said at a briefing yesterday in Washington, according to the
department's Web site.
North Korea is preparing to test fire a long-range missile as early as this
weekend, according to media reports. Six-nation talks, also involving South
Korea, the U.S., Japan, China and Russia, ended without an agreement in
November 2005, raising concerns about North Korea's commitment to a nuclear-
free Korean peninsula.
``We have a variety of national technical means that we could use to monitor
the situation,'' McCormack said. ``We, of course, will take necessary
preparatory steps to track any potential activities and to protect
ourselves.''
North Korea fired a long-range Taepodong 1 missile that flew over Japan
before landing in the Pacific Ocean in 1998. It has test-fired short-range
missiles since then, including a test in March, when it launched two. The
U.S. confirmed the tests.
General Burwell Bell, commander of U.S. forces in South Korea, said in
testimony to a U.S. Senate hearing on March 7 that North Korea is preparing
to field a new ballistic missile capable of reaching Okinawa in Japan, Guam
and ``probably'' Alaska.
Accelerating Preparations
North Korea is accelerating preparations for a long-range missile test, which
``may be imminent'' the Associated Press said, citing an unidentified U.S.
government official.
Satellite photos suggest that about 10 fuel tanks were delivered near to
Musudan-ri launch pad in the country's northeast North Hamgyong province,
South Korea's Chosun Ilbo newspaper reported today, citing an unidentified
South Korean government official. Previous satellite images captured a
missile on a truck at the launch pad, news reports said.
North Korea has refused to return to the six-nation talks until the U.S.
removes sanctions it imposed over allegations of money laundering and
counterfeiting by North Korean companies.
``We would urge North Korea not to undertake such a provocation and instead,
return to the six-party talks to achieve the vision laid out by the September
19th statement,'' McCormack said.
North Korea then vowed to dismantle its arms and admit United Nations
inspectors to verify the closure of nuclear facilities, as part of a six-
nation agreement.

It would be most interesting if the NKs launched..and we shot it down in
smug silence.
Everyone knows that they're going to launch that one missile at us. They have
no reason to expect retaliaton. In fact, I wouldn't be surprised at all if Bush
surrendered and gave in to their demands.
Then, they'll shoot a single missile at China, and China will surrender and give
them what they want.
Kim Il Jones knows that, which is why he's only got 2 missiles.
Bush is afraid because he knows that 2 missiles is all it's gonna take.

Yep, I've been watching Fox news and for the past few days, international
experts like Marc
Ginsberg, Dennis Ross, Martin Indyke, Richard Perle, Madeleine Albright, Henry
Kissinger and top
officials in the Bush Administration are all saying the same thing. They all
believe war with Iran
and North Korea is inevitable and that we cannot wait for them to strike
first. The time to attack
is NOW before it's too late! We better reinstitute the draft and take care of
this problem now
while it's still solvable at minimal cost. Plus it will be a great boom for
the economy just like
it was during and immediately following World War 2.
A draft is fine by me, as long as those with fat bank accounts can buy their way
out of it.
We don't want the people who drive our economy or their families in harm's way.

I don't think that will be a problem. There's plenty of poverty class people to fill the necessary
positions, and the number of contract security firms has never been more plentiful. This is an
incredible opportunity for young businessmen to manage their own weapons and security firms. Get
your investments in early, because this is going to be an economic boom for those who are ready.

long as there's a buck to be made. Bush is going to have to run bigger deficits

portfolios? And I just recently invested in two upstart Israeli weapons firms. The proprietors are
just out of college, but they come from a long line of successful hawkish businessmen, so I have
confidence that this will be a very exciting venture for me and I don't want to miss a single minute
of it!
It's not our job to do the dirty work. That's what those jar headed peons are
for.
Everybody's gotta start someplace. Why deny them their lifetime opportunities? I personally know
several millionaires with military experience who wouldn't be where they are today if it weren't for
their time in the military.

Actually Hore...the soldiers are well trained and usually very educated.
Far moreso in todays army then at any time in history.
