You are confused and/or poorly educated about climate. Global warming
does not mean the end of cold weather and snowstorms. The key word
here is "Global," local weather patterns are just that, local. Even
if there was record cold weather in a region (like our Pacific
Northwest snow and ice storms this week), that does not mean global
warming isn't occurring.
Check out your local college Geography department for an introductory
course that might help you understand the phenomenon better.

But to get into a college class might mean he'd have to finally get his GED! ;-)

It has been a disgustingly warm winter here so far.
More days in the 50s than below 32.
All the lovely snow melted, over 7 feet melted in
Stowe!
Disgusting.
Educate yourself.

They're forecasting highs of around 3 degrees in the Northeast on Wednesday,
with overnight lows around -10 or so.
It's a damn shame what "Global Warming" is doing to our weather, isn't

The Enviroweenies tell us the climate is "warming", globally. They feel
that adequately explains the fact that the Northest is now experiencing
record cold.
THAT'S what's shocking.

Well, for starters. it is far from record cold. And one does not define a
trend by blips. Fact is, since 1991, the world has had the ten warmest
years on record. Now that's worrisome.

One does not define a trend by blips.
10 years is a BLIP
100 years is a BLIP.
No computer model has successfully been able to predict past changes when
wound backwards, therefore they are completely and totally unable to predict
any changes going forwards.
And if we eliminated all man made greenhouse gasses, Chicken Little, it
would be a BLIP on the amount that are produced every year by non-man made
sources.
I agree 100% with planting more forests and other plants to increase oxygen
output to suck up more CO2, that's an easy one. But I don't support
changing our economy for a possible perceived danger that can not be proven.

Well, Blip, you agree that planting trees is good. But part of the problem is
deforestation. I don't know if we really are on the way to a warmer globe
that will move the iceline north and higher and extend the deserts. And ten
years or even a Century may be blips in the life of the Earth. The Ice Age
was a mere blip. But they are not blips in my lifetime and I well remember
much colder winters and cooler summers than we have recently had. New York
City, despite two blizzards (soon melted) in December actually went two
winters in a row with no measurable snowfall. Blip? Maybe. But it never ever
happened when I was a kid. In any case, this blizzard or that tornado or the
other huricane are all equivalent to anecdotal evidence. They happen, have
happened and will happen. But what's the measurable trend? That trend is
measurable incremental global yearly average temperature. You don't bet
against the trend.
You do remember the ozone hole, do you not? It has pretty much closed. Of
course, the banning of flourine gases had nothing to do with it.
