Object: Not to Hang Saddam Yet
Apart from whether Saddam deserves hanging, he should be kept alive and
reasonably healthy as a material witness to be called in the War Crimes
Trials of George Bush, Richard Cheny, Donald Rumsfeld, C. Rice, and all
those who have committed crimes in the prosecution of the illegal war
against Iraq.
These people will be gloating over Saddam's death sentence, and will
for the reasons stated be pushing hard for his early execution. Dead
men do not testify.

There will never be any war crimes trials , as there are no war crimes to
prosecute..
You forget there is no authority over the sovereign US of A.
Even if there were crimes, no organization on this rock has authority over
the US.

So long as US criminals don't travel abroad they should be safe.
But lots of countries have extradition treaties with each other.
But if they've done nothing wrong then they have nothing to fear do they -
so Cheney and Rumsfield can go to Germany any time they like.

I was talking about prosecuting not persecuting.
And I was talking about criminals - doesn't make any difference if they are
a vice-president or a street-sweeper - a criminal is a criminal in the eyes
of European law and no-one is above it if they are in those countries.
But as I said, if Cheney and Rumsfiled are innocent they have nothing to
fear in Germany because they still have habeas corpus - like the US used to
have until recently - and they don't do imprisonment without trial in
Europe either.
They would get a fair trial.
