Talk about being out of touch.
The Bush predictions and promises about the Iraq war are falling apart like
a house of cards in a hurricane. Bush's lies about 9/11 and the Iraq war
have been exposed in yet another dimension. Americans are dying daily in
Iraq.
And you think we ought to spend our time trying to get the press to talk
about the anemic economy?
Let me guess - you never think about something before you say something out

They're just like Bush, they think creating 366,000 jobs in 5 months
is a road to recovery, when that many were lost in a month and a half.
As it stands now, this is the worst any President has been at creating
jobs for the last 60 years.
One thing you can say about Bush, he's breaking records all the time,
including spending 2/3 of his term on vacations and now campaigning/
fund raising. About like those who collect monthly government checks,
but don't want to work.

The economy stinks. What you have is a run up in the stock market that was the
result of the drop in the dollar. IBM just released it results and they were
up 11 percent. 9 percent was currency conversions. That is the typical result
but it makes a big imporession on wall street who sell stock when stocks more.
They do not have have any reality to the move as shown by the internet bubble.
The job situation is just dismal. The federal deficit is out of hand. The
trade deficit is horrible and getting worse because of the increase int he
price of oil.
So what part of the miserable economy would you like to talke about. BTW
barrons sounded very much like you in there last editions. They are good
republicans and they are doing there part but they offered nothing but *****
for proof on why they think the economy is wonderful. They also took a major
stand on shipping our jobs overseas. Barrons is all for it. Maybe Barrons is
just another Globalist organization and they like republicans becuase they are
good for foreigners.

WASHINGTON -- Citing it as evidence that his "economic strategy has
paid off," President Bill Clinton announced Wednesday that the federal
government ran a larger surplus than the administration was projecting
for the 1999 fiscal year.
Speaking from the White House, Clinton detailed a report being sent to
the White House from the Office of Management and Budget that shows a
final surplus of $123 billion for the 1999 fiscal year, which ended
September 30. The administration had previously estimated the surplus
would be $115 billion.
"We have closed the book on deficits and opened the door on a new era
of economic opportunity," he said.
The president also said the administration has paid down $140 billion
in long-term national debt over the past two years. The report says
the national debt is now $1.7 trillion lower than it was projected to
be when the president took office in 1993.
A lower national debt means lower debt payments on automobiles, school
loans and home mortgages, Clinton said.
"It proves that putting our fiscal house in order helps every American
household," he said
From a financial standpoint, administration officials said the new
surplus numbers should not have a significant impact on the ongoing
budget negotiations because the administration is not scheduled to
revise its surplus estimate for the current fiscal year until
February.
However, the president again criticized the 2000 federal budget
proposed by congressional Republicans, saying it would reverse the
nation's economic good fortune.
It is the second straight year the government has generated a surplus,
the first time that has happened since the Eisenhower Administration
in 1956 and 1957.
Earlier, the Congressional Budget Office raised the prospect the
government would get through fiscal 1999 without having to dip into
the Social Security trust fund. But administration officials say the
final balance sheet shows that the government dipped into the trust
fund for $1 billion.
The Social Security surplus last year was $124 billion, and the rest
of the government ran a $1 billion deficit, creating a combined $123
billion surplus.
Rep. Bill Archer (R-Texas), chairman of the House Ways and Means
Committee, said the surplus is a victory for GOP fiscal strategies.
"This is what happens when Republicans take care of the government
checkbook and hold the line against tax hikes and more spending,"
Archer said. "This is a huge victory for American taxpayers and is the
latest in a string of victories that Congress has won for our country
and our economy."
But White House Press Secretary Joe Lockhart said it was the
Democratic budget in 1993 that was not supported by any Republicans
that paved the way for the surplus.
"It's just an extraordinary use of selected memory," he said of
Archer's statement.
CNN's Danielle Whelton and The Associated Press contributed to this
report.

PRESIDENT CLINTON AND VICE PRESIDENT GORE:
MORE THAN 17 MILLION NEW JOBS, UNEMPLOYMENT
AT A GENERATIONAL LOW
December 4, 1998
America's Economy Remains Solid and Strong. In November, unemployment
dropped to 4.4 percent, more than a quarter of a million new jobs were
created and wages continued to grow at twice the rate of inflation.
In 1992, the American economy was barely creating jobs, wages were
stagnant, and the unemployment rate was 7.5 percent. Five years ago,
President Clinton put in place a bold new three-part economic strategy
of cutting the
deficit to help reduce interest rates and spur business investment;
investing in education, health care, science and technology so that
America was prepared to meet the challenges of the 21st century; and
opening markets abroad
so that American workers would have a fair chance to compete and win
across the globe. Since then:
More than 17 Million New Jobs Have Been Created Under President
Clinton and Vice President
Gore. Last month alone, 267,000 more jobs were added to the American
economy than were lost. Since President Clinton took office, the
economy has added 17.3 million new jobs;
Unemployment Down To 4.4 Percent in November --Below 5 Percent For 17
Months In A Row.
In 1992, the unemployment rate was 7.5 percent. In November, the
unemployment rate was 4.4 percent. For the first time in 28 years, the
unemployment rate has been below 5 percent for 17 months in a row;
Highest Share of New Jobs in Private Sector in 75 Years. Since
President Clinton and Vice President Gore took office, the private
sector of the economy has added 16.0 million new jobs --with over 2.5
million jobs added in the past year. Under President Clinton and Vice
President Gore, 93 percent of the 17.3 million new jobs have been in
the private sector --that is the highest percentage since Warren G.
Harding was President in the early 1920s;
Fastest Real Wage Growth in More Than Two Decades. Last month, average
hourly earnings
increased 0.2 percent. Over the past year, average hourly earnings
have risen 3.7 percent --that's more than twice the rate of inflation.
After adjusting for inflation, wages have increased at about a 2.5
percent pace in the past 12 months --that's the fastest real wage
growth in more than two decades;
Construction Jobs Are Coming Back. Under President Clinton and Vice
President Gore, construction and manufacturing jobs are coming back:
after losing 662,000 jobs in construction during the previous four
years, more than 1.5 million new construction jobs have been added
since January 1993 --that's a faster
annual rate than any other Administration since Harry S Truman was
President;
Record-Low Unemployment for African Americans and Hispanics. Under
President Clinton and
Vice President Gore, the African-American unemployment rate has fallen
from 14.1 percent to 8.7 percent --one of its lowest levels on record
(data first collected in 1972). And the Hispanic unemployment rate has
dropped from 11.3 percent to 7.0 percent --also one of its lowest
levels ever. But we still have more work
to do, since these unemployment rates are well above the national
average;
Inflation --Lowest Since 1961. In the third quarter, the GDP price
index rose 0.8 percent at an annual rate. Over the past year,
inflation rose just 0.9 percent --the smallest increase in 37 years.
No wonder the Demmie Party has basically now fallen totally silent about the
economy.

But he did oversee the invasion of a private residence in Waco, Texas which
ultimately resulted in the death of approximately 100 civilians, none of

No, Bush created 366,000 in 5 months, the economists stating to break
even there needs to be 150,000 created each month. For 5 months,
750,000 were needed, making Bush short just under 1/2.
Hell, Bush thinks that shows a road to recovery, and doesn't include
the amount of jobs lost during those 5 months.

index rose 0.8 percent at an annual rate. Over the past year,
inflation rose just 0.9 percent --the smallest increase in 37 years.
But he did oversee the invasion of a private residence in Waco, Texas which
ultimately resulted in the death of approximately 100 civilians, none of
whom were charged with any crime. In fact, Clinton killed fewer Muslim
Terrorists than that! He was more proficient at gunning down American
civilians who hadn't been charged with any crime and who were minding their
own business than he was at killing Muslim Terrorists who bombed our
embassies!
Well, perhaps you've been more privy than the rest of us regarding
evidence of "Muslim Terrorists" acts other than just the US
government's word.
In fact the Taliban asked Bush numerous times for evidence,
(not an unreasonable request) before they would hand over Bin
Laden. Bush couldn't, because he didn't have any.
Then Bush stated the Taliban refused to turn over Bin Laden,
leaving out of course the fact they wanted proof and Bush didn't
have any.
Bush stated he didn't know anything prior to the attacks. Yet,
a few hours after the attacks, he announced Bin Laden was
responsible. Pretty amazing since there was no investigation
done.
Congress would only give the ok to invade Iraq if Bush signed a
declaration that all other recourse would been sought regarding
WMD, and that Saddam was involved with 9-11.
Bush was in violation by stopping the inspectors and began invading,
and there never was any evidence of Saddam and 9-11 or Saddam and
Bin Laden

Liberals wait for the government to provide them
with a job.
Conservatives take responsibility for themselves.

You must mean like Bush, who has spent 2/3 of his term
on vacation while still collecting a government check for $400,000
a year
Or Congress who doesn't skip a heartbeat to impeach Clinton for
lying about having sex between to consenting adults to a Grand Jury,
but both Bush Presidents lie to Congress, the nation, the world about
bogus evidence ( Bush Sr later admitted it ), and committed
pre-meditated mass murder of 15,000+ innocent lives, tens of
thousand injured or maimed, homeless, etc, Congress had Bush Jr
sign a declaration that all measures would be sought out first before
invading Iraq of which he violated by ending the inspectors search
and invaded (yet now we're supposed to give Bush until the end of
time to find what was never there) and the second condition he
violated was that Saddam was responsible for 9-11, both of which
have proven he lied through his teeth like his father.
And Congress, who were elected and took an oath, have done
nothing, just sitting back letting Bush destroy this nation. But the
American people are just as guilty, because they don't have the
guts, backbone or self respect to stand up for their country they
claim they love so much.
Lets not leave out Halliburton, who has been found guilty of
ripping off the government more than once in the past, yet they
get 99% of the government contracts, without bidding of course.
The only thing conservatives are responsible for is housing costs
doubling, prices skyrocketing, millions unemployed, more concerned
about creating wars than jobs, illegally invading nations to steal
their resources of oil, giving the wealthy $200+ billion in tax cuts
at the expense of cutting benefits of those who financially support
and defend this country, and last but not least, only care about
their bank accounts and the hell with the American people and
America.
But don't worry, unless you're in the small elite circle of Bush's
regime, you'll be going down with the rest of us, and you can
tell your kids and grand kids you helped make it happen.
