One Trillion Dollars.
Most of us read recently that the total cost to the U.S. of the
Iraq adventure, assuming favorable results starting now, is credibly
estimated at One Trillion Dollars. (Some say twice this!)
This is actual cash outlay, ignoring the intangible values
of lost American lives and American prestige. This enormous
expense might be a fair price to "save the world",
but objective observers agree that militant Islamism has
been strengthened, not weakened, by our misadventures.
One Trillion Dollars.
For most people, a trillion is about as comprehensible as
a quadrillion, or even a mere billion. Let's put this cash
amount into perspective.
This is over $3000 for every American, but that includes
babies, etc., so a more realistic description would be
to say the cost of Bush's War is at least $10,000 for each
middle-class working taxpayer.
I'm really curious, those of you who supported the Iraq Adventure:
Would you would have been so eager had you been asked to write
a check for $10,000? That's $20,000 for your household if both
spouses work.
One Trillion Dollars.
True, the friendly Bush Administration has never asked for
your money, and will probably give (the richest of) you even more
tax cuts! But this government debt will come due, and your
children or grandchildren will pay for it.
One Trillion Dollars. Not to mention over 2000 American soldiers
dead, thousands maimed, and tens of thousands coming home with
psychological problems. (And, by many measures, the quality
of life for most Iraqis is still below that of the Saddam era!)
One Trillion Dollars. Hey that's not so much, and it's just our
grandkids' money anyway. Why we don't start another War?
Iran? Syria? France? All three? Let's roll!

One trillion dollars is just the money the Air Force and Navy lost.
When you also count the money The Army lost,
the bill is more like 5 trillion dollars, give or take
a few Agent Orange contaminated Alaskas.

And who can put a value on the 2400 brave young Americans who lost their

do?

Don't forget this cost is based on no-bid contracts too. If we had some
competitive bidding I'm sure we could have strengthened militant Islam for
much less.

That's true, but since it's only because they
find idiots like New York City, Exxon, Microsoft, FEMA
and barrels to be incomprensible, you'll be happy to know that
Boeing, IBM, GE, and Warren Buffet are atill doing OK with the
Billions.

Tossed a softball question during Tuesday morning's press conference about
whether he should be censured for ordering warrantless wiretapping of phone
conversations "during a time of war," President Bush fell back on the lie
that Americans must surrender liberties -- and the rule of law, itself -- in
order to be made safe from terrorism.

Bush has destroyed America and Iraq.
2 countries.
And the blundering boob has still got enough time left to destroy a few
more.

More like 2 trillion dollars, 1 trillion the way it is reported but in a
form to deceive Americans. At 30% interest to other countries. Bush is
accomplishing his dad's mission of destroying SS and all government benefits
that we pay in.
