Welcome
Welcome to the online worship service at Internet Church Of Christ.
Here is a good place to worship our Lord and Saviour, Jesus Christ. You
are invited and are welcome at any time.
Hello Beloved,
If you have the Holy Spirit of Jesus abiding within you, then you are
able to endure all trials, blessed with the peace which surpasses all
understanding. If not, you remain deprived of the many blessings the
Lord has waiting for you. If you have not yet accepted Jesus as your
personal Lord and Saviour, you have the opportunity to do that right
now by clicking => HERE! -

Invocation
O Lord, we come together in Your name,
And as You promised, we know You are here.
AND SO WE WELCOME YOU WITH OPEN ARMS,
AND PRAY THAT YOU FIND PLEASURE HERE WITH US,
AS WE, YOUR LOVING CHILDREN WORSHIP YOU.
We now invite You to reveal Yourself,
And share with us Your presence, openly,
FOR YOU ARE EVERYTHING THAT WE DESIRE,
AND EVERYTHING WE HAVE, WE GIVE TO YOU.
In Jesus' holy name we pray, Amen.
Declaration Of Faith
The Apostles' Creed
This historic affirmation of faith comes to us from the early
centuries of the Christian church.
I believe in God, the Father Almighty,
Maker of heaven and earth:
And in Jesus Christ, his only Son, our Lord;
Who was conceived by the Holy Ghost;
Born of the Virgin Mary,
Suffered under Pontius Pilate,
Was crucified, dead, and buried;
He descended into hell;
The third day he rose again from the dead;
He ascended into heaven
And sitteth at the right hand of God the Father Almighty;
From thence He shall come to judge the quick and the dead.
I believe in the Holy Ghost;
The holy catholic church; *
The communion of saints;
The forgiveness of sins;
The resurrection of the body;
And the life everlasting.
Amen.
* Note: "catholic church" here means the entire body of
believers in Christ, not just one particular church.
Scriptures And Teachings
What Do We Owe Other People?
First, we look to the Scriptures which generally govern our
interpersonal relationships.
"Therefore all things whatsoever you would that men should do to you,
do even so to them: for this is the law and the prophets." - Matthew
7:12 (KJCNT)
"Render therefore to all their dues: tribute to whom tribute is due;
custom to whom custom; fear to whom fear; honor to whom honor." -
Romans 13:7 (KJCNT)
"For all the law is fulfilled in one word, even in this; You shall love
your neighbor as yourself." - Galatians 5:14 (KJCNT)
Bible verses are taken from the King James Clarified New Testament
(KJCNT), which is in the Public Domain, free for all people to use
without restriction.
Then we consider Jesus' instructions for us to be "servants of all."
Jesus is very clear: we are to be servant of all, just as He was
servant to us. This is the way it is in the Kingdom of God.
"If any one would be first, he must be last of all and servant of all."
Matthew 20:25-28, Matthew 23:11, Mark 9:35, Mark 10:42-45
(RSV)
_____________________________________________________________
Matthew 20
25
But Jesus called them to him and said, "You know that
the
rulers of the Gentiles lord it over them, and their
great
men exercise authority over them.
26
It shall not be so among you; but whoever would be great
among you must be your servant,
27
and whoever would be first among you must be your slave;
28
even as the Son of man came not to be served but to
serve,
and to give his life as a ransom for many."
_____________________________________________________________
Matthew 23
11
He who is greatest among you shall be your servant;
_____________________________________________________________
Mark 9
35
And he sat down and called the twelve; and he said to
them, "If any one would be first, he must be last of all
and servant of all."
_____________________________________________________________
Mark 10
42
And Jesus called them to him and said to them, "You know
that those who are supposed to rule over the Gentiles
lord
it over them, and their great men exercise authority
over
them.
43
But it shall not be so among you; but whoever would be
great among you must be your servant,
44
and whoever would be first among you must be slave of
all.
45
For the Son of man also came not to be served but to
serve, and to give his life as a ransom for many."
_____________________________________________________________
Finally, we look at the example set by Jesus Himself.
Jesus served other people to the ultimate extent of giving Himself up
to be tortured to death for our sins. On the other hand, I do not see
any instances in the Bible where he allowed Himself to be interrupted
to do other people's personal chores, like housekeeping or gardening or
taking care of the animals. He devoted Himself to areas where the need
was great, and He alone was able to fill it, like teaching and healing
and casting out demons.
That's the way I feel about it, too. I really don't want to be bothered
doing routine tasks that others can do better than I, such as painting.
I don't ever want to paint anything again: no houses, no fences, no
cabinets, nothing for any reason.
This issue strikes very close to home for me, because I am generally
unwilling to be under the authority of anyone or follow instructions
from anyone except the Lord, Himself, and then only with some
discussion. I am very jealous of of the time I have remaining on this
earth, and I am generally unwilling to jump up and and do errands or
routine tasks for other people, unless they really, really need this
help from me and cannot do it themselves or cannot get it from others
closer to themselves than I am.
This may very well be my greatest failing as a Christian. On the other
hand, I am devoting my entire life to the Lord, focusing my efforts
where He keeps leading me, as a Christian writer and political
activist. And I do not welcome distractions from this course of action,
which I believe to be my calling for the remainder of my life. One of
the reasons I am not now an active member of any congregation is that I
don't want to be pressured into doing cleanup-up and maintenance work
around the building, or other tasks I am unwilling to do.
So maybe I am not a good example for you in this area. But I fall back
on the Scriptures which say, "Every man according as he purposes in his
heart, so let him give; not grudgingly, or of necessity: for God loves
a cheerful giver." - 2 Corinthians 9:7 (KJCNT) and "Therefore, my
beloved, as you have always obeyed, not as in my presence only, but now
much more in my absence, work out your own salvation with fear and
trembling." - Philippians 2:12 (KJCNT) I am doing this in my own way,
hoping it is acceptable to the Lord..
Blessings to you in Jesus Christ our Lord. o
God Makes All Things Work Together For Our Good
One of God's most important promises to us is so simple that it
sometimes gets overlooked . . .
"And we know that all things work together for good
to them that love God, to them who are the called
according to his purpose." (Romans 8:28 KJV)
If we have accepted Jesus Christ as our Saviour, then we love God and
we are called according to His purpose. Therefore we meet the
conditions set forth in Romans 8:28, and all things work together for
our good! Not just "some things," but "all things."
Do you realize how important this is? Everything that happens to us
Christians works together for our good! We may not understand it at the
time, but God is in control, working for our ultimate good.
To me, this is a constant source of joy, knowing that *whatever*
happens to me, God will make it work out for my benefit. See how much
He loves us!
This verse can get you through any difficulty whatsoever, through any
hardship or disaster. Just trust in the Lord. He is God, let Him do
whatever He wants to do.
Prayer For You
For Patience
NOTE: When you read this prayer, try to imagine my voice as I
speak it to you. In this way, the prayer is reactivated,
and it is the same as if I were actually praying for you
at that moment.
MY PRAYER FOR YOU, THE READERS OF THIS PAGE
"For Patience"
Sometimes you feel that all is lost and gone;
You feel it is no use to carry on;
You cannot see the light that lies ahead.
I pray that you have patience at these times,
And know the Lord is working while you wait,
As after Jesus died upon the cross,
They didn't know that He would rise again.

it!
DEAR LORD AND FATHER OF MANKIND
by John Greenleaf Whittier
Public Domain
Dear Lord and Father of mankind,
Forgive our foolish ways!
Reclothe us in our rightful mind,
In purer lives thy service find,
In deeper reverence, praise.
In simple trust like theirs who heard
Beside the Syrian sea
The gracious calling of the Lord,
Let us, like them, without a word,
Rise up and follow thee.
O Sabbath rest by Galilee!
O calm of hills above,
Where Jesus knelt to share with thee
The silence of eternity
Interpreted by love !
With that deep hush subduing all
Our words and works that drown
The tender whisper of thy call,
As noiseless let thy blessing fall
As fell thy manna down.
Drop thy still dews of quietness,
Till all our strivings cease;
Take from our souls the strain and stress,
And let our ordered lives confess
The beauty of thy peace.
Breathe through the heats of our desire
Thy coolness and thy balm;
Let sense be dumb, let flesh retire;
Speak through the earthquake, wind, and fire,
O still, small voice of calm!
