Object: Open Letter to the President
I have decided that I cannot in good conscience vote for any of the
Presidential candidates and I don't believe that I am alone in this
difficulty. Here are my choices..
Nader - outright communist/socialist/fascist.
Libertarians - Want no border controls and no foreign intervention.
Kerry - 20+ year history of trying to dismantle the U.S. military, stop all
covert intelligence and turn U.S. security over to the United Nations.
Bush - Controlled by the 5% of the U.S. population that is fundamentalist
Christian (whose goals are almost exactly the same as the Islamic terrorists
we need to be fighting) and is spending money faster (average annual cost of
a community health clinic is about 7 million dollars and there are over 1300
counties that probably qualify as "poor" resulting in around 10 billion per
year of new spending) than the Democrats ever dreamed of doing.
Karl Rove says that the Republicans don't need the votes of those of us that
believe in both religious freedom and fiscal responsibility. He is busy
trying to motivate the non-voting Christians by having Bush push the
homophobia (marriage/family values??) and anti-abortion (death by pregnancy)
buttons. Rove thinks this combined with the vote buying power of
compassionate conservatism (the health clinics 10 billion per year,
prescription drug program 16.6 trillion dollars to be paid by our children,
grandchildren and great grandchildren, and his 15% increase in the National
Endowment for the Arts) will get Bush re-elected.
Unfortunately he may be correct and it will spell the death of Christianity
in the U.S. in 70-100 years. Why?? Because the run away spending and
unfunded liabilities will make it impossible in the short term (20-40 years)
to pay for the necessary military to fight the terrorists, and the
religiously motivated laws will set the precedent that will allow the
Muslims to do to Christians in 2094 what the Christians want to do the
everyone else in this country today.
Don't think it can happen?? Look at
http://www.gc.cuny.edu/studies/aris_index.htm , the Muslim population in
America more than doubled from 1990 to 2001 to 1.1 million while
Christianity only gained 5% to 159 million. Simple math (which unfortunately
most Americans can't do in spite of massive Education Department spending
see www.openletter2004blankballot.us/Educationspending ) shows these growth
rates for 80 years will result in 281.6 Muslim population and 234.9
Christian. 10 years later the Muslim population will be 563.3 M. More than
double the 246.7 M of the Christians and under current policies, that will
spell the death of the open, free practice of Christianity.
We may be able to avert this nightmare, but to do it we
must:
1. Truly practice the 1st 16 words of the 1st Amendment and not just stop
enacting new laws that limit anyone's religious freedom, but we must openly
and loudly purge any such existing laws.
2. Use that currently wasted Education spending to educate all people about
the origins and reason for the 1st 16 words of the 1st Amendment especially
including an accurate teaching of the atrocities of Christianity that
prompted the Framers to try for a Government that couldn't be used by one
religion to make second class citizens of or forcibly convert the members of
another religion.
3. Be scrupulous in treating all members of all religions (and yes, no
religion) with the utmost of equality and dignity.
We have a window of about 70 years, just 5 generations of children, to
instill the never fully implemented American values of complete religious
freedom and maybe,, just maybe,, the American Muslims of 2094 will have
evolved enough that non-Christians won't be killed outright and Christians
won't be enslaved as current Muslim teaching seems to demand.
Israel is building a wall and embarking on an exclusionary path. I find this
completely unacceptable and clearly unconstitution for the United States.
The alternative of equal oppression of all religions is being tried by
France and it is clearly failing. The alternative of complete religious
freedom for Muslims while giving the dominate religion (Hindu) special
privileges is failing in India.. We must not pick the worst of both of those
systems (special privilege for Christianity and limited freedom for Muslims)
which is the path the of the Republican Party.
To make the political parties, especially the Republican (since they are the
only party that understands that at least for the next 20-40 years only
military action will protect us) understand that there are people that are
willing to vote but don't agree with any party right now, I am going to turn
in a blank ballot in Nov 2004. I want to encourage anyone else that cares
about the future of this country and your descendants to do the same thing.

+++ THE TEXT OF MY OPEN LETTER TO THE PRESIDENT+++++
Open Letter to The President -- Feb 2004
Dear President Bush,
Copy to: All elected Republican officials that I am eligible to vote for.
I was 14 years old when I KNEW that I was a Republican. I had been reading a
lot about the history of the Constitution and the people who wrote it. I was
a news paper delivery boy and I read everything in the paper every morning.
When I read the words "Extremism in the defense of liberty is no vice. " I
understood them and I went on to spend 20+ years in the military. When I
read the words "I cannot find anything in the Constitution that allows the
government to either prohibit or promote abortion." I knew that the
Republican who spoke them understood the first 16 words of the First
Amendment in the same way the Framers understood them. Every time I read
about his opposition to some spending program I knew he understood the
Framers plan for a limited federal government.
Today I am no longer sure that I am a Republican. I haven't left the Party,
the Party seems to have left me.
People that claim to speak for me in the Republican party are distorting the
first 16 words of the First Amendment and claim they mean that all it takes
is a majority vote of the elected representatives to make death by pregnancy
the law of the land. They claim that by majority vote they can force me to
speak the name of the Christian deity in order to be considered a loyal
American. They claim that being Gay or Lesbian means you can be denied
"equal protection under the law". These people aren't "Republicans",, they
are Christocrats and if their policies are implemented then the Republican
Party will have abandoned it's exalted place as the defender of religious
freedom as it was understood by the Framers of the Constitution.
In the last 3 years as a self avowed "compassionate conservative" and so
called "Republican" President you have nearly doubled the size of the
Education Department that the Republican party had once pledged to
dismantle. To buy the senior vote you have taken what may be the final step
to make socialized medicine the law of the land and ensured that my
grandchildren and great grandchildren will be forced to send 85% of
everything they produce to the government. Slavery would probably be less
onerous for them since there would be no pretense of them having any
individual freedom or personal responsibility.
Now comes the final straw. As a self avowed "born again Christian" and
"compassionate conservative" President you are proposing to give the
National Endowment for the Arts a 15% increase. Whose vote is this going to
buy?? Is this the way that you and other Elected Republican Party leaders
plan to make me believe you are really ready to resist the urge to use my
(or my descendants) tax money to retain political power?? Have you forgotten
that this is the Government program that used my tax money to pay a child
pornographer to produce and distribute his "art"?? That it paid other
"artists" to produce and distribute the "Urine Christ", the "Feces Madonna"
and the "Floormat Flag". Has Republican Party forgotten it's pledge to pull
this abomination out by the roots??
So,, what reason do I have left to call myself a Republican?? National
defense?? Does anyone actually think that any politician of any party is
going to neglect it for the foreseeable future?? Besides, because of your
newly uncontrolled expansion of medicare, there won't be any money for
national defense in 15 years anyway unless the Framers ideals of limited
government are again embraced.
I can't pick up the phone and call you Mr. President,, but, my local
Republican officials can call Gene Seaman or other state wide elected
officials and they can call Governor Perry and Lt. Gov. Dewhurst and
probably Senators Hutchison and Cornyn. The Governor and Lt. Governor can
certainly call the Senators. The Senators can undoubtedly call you Mr.
President. If these people are threatened with political exile, they will
make it clear to those above them and to you that things must change!!
To my fellow Americans,, for the present I am going to proudly call myself a
"1964 Goldwater Republican" and I have decided it is time to try and take my
Party back from the Christocrats and Compassionate Conservatives. Toward
that end I make the following pledge:
I will not vote for any incumbent Republican Office holder
at any level of County, State or Federal government if the
NEA gets even one dollar more in fiscal 2005 than it got
in fiscal 2004. Ideally the NEA, NPR and PBS should be
pulled out by the roots.
I can't do this alone. Join me and make the same pledge. Let's again make
the Republican Party the true party of all living Americans who believe they
have the RIGHT to LIFE (even pregnant women), LIBERTY (even my grand
children and great grand children), and the PURSUIT of HAPPINESS (even Gays
and Lesbians).
You can find the email addresses of all the state and federal Elected
Republicans at http://www.vote-smart.org . Make your voice heard.
Davi Wayne-Disney
Addendum:
Mr. President,
Since I first wrote this your administration has done two additional things
that the Republican Party of Goldwater would never have done.
First: You seem to have decided to buy the "fat" vote by starting the
process to make obesity a "disease" for which people will be able to demand
taxpayer funded treatment through Medicare/Medicaid. While I have no problem
providing treatment for those very few individuals that have an underlying
medical condition that causes them to be unable to exercise or to retain
fat,, I do not want my tax dollars used to treat a "disease" that is really
just a personal choice not to watch what kind and how much food someone puts
in their mouth while living a completely sedentary life. What is next? A fat
and sugar tax? Will there be a kitchen police to go along with your bedroom
police to make sure that people eat right but don't have unapproved sex (an
exercise that might help them lose weight)?
Second: In the face of overwhelming evidence from Geologists, Archeologists
and Historians that global warming is a naturally occurring phenomenon, you
have caved in to the communists, socialists and Marxists at the U.N. How
long will it be until the Republican party decides to help them destroy the
United States by imposing the limits of the Kyoto Accord on all Americans.
