Original Sin, Scientific |
Consider this. Science has confirmed that genetic defects are passed
down from generation to generation. This includes even addictions.
Thus, one person, prone to alcoholism will produce children more likely
to suffer the affliction. This has been proven to apply to drug use,
gambling, and a whole range of physical defects.
So, if a person that sins passes down the defects of that sin, how is
it unscientific to say that Adam and Eve's sin has passed down to us,
as well. Every creature would've been born corrupted by their sin and
more prone to sin (short of the glory of God). Thus, original sin is a
scientific concept, and one must defy their own understanding of
genetics and biology to say generational sin would not impact us now.
One final note: If science and the Bible confirms that sin is passed
down from generation to generation, our society would be becoming more
and more corrupt with each generation (confirming the law of
Entropy...things fall apart). Instead of becoming more and more
perfected with each generation (as Evolution and the "enlightenment"
mentality says), we are becoming less and less perfected. One can
conclude, looking at this, two things. Adam and Eve were the most
mentally capable and intelligent of all beings and, two, we are heading
toward a destructive end, which only God (in His mercy) will have the
power to stop.
As one application of this, then. Governments, seeking to solve the
world's problems, would be wise to first seek the "new birth" in
Christ, so that we may become the "new creation" the Bible promises,
free from the curse of sin.

Bzzzt! Wrong. It includes any GENETIC propensities to BECOME addicted,
but the addictions themselves are not passed on genetically.

So where in the human genome is the "sin gene?" Why can we not just
invent a medication to suppress its protein? I mean, why bother with all
this religion stuff, when it's simply a matter of suppressing the effects
of a protein?
According to YOU, that is, speaking ex cathedra from under your latest

Wrong as usual.
Physically, we are becoming more and more perfect, as evidenced by our
lengthening lifespan, but we find this perfection empty since we don't know
what to do with.
This is just as Paul said...
2 Ti 3:2-5
For men shall be lovers of their own selves, covetous, boasters, proud,
blasphemers, disobedient to parents, unthankful, unholy, without natural

those that are good, traitors, heady, highminded, lovers of pleasures more
than lovers of God; Having a form of godliness, but denying the power

So your thesis is exactly backwards as usual: Mankind shall continue to

Too bad you don't know there were two parties present at the
confrontation--the "seed" of Satan (i.e. the Gentiles) and the seed of Eve
(i.e. the Adamic sons).
When the two got together, that's when the trouble started.

I am not just talking about medicine alone. I am talking about medicine,
electricity, shelter, pesticides, cars, everything.
The rest comes from the ability to consistently grow better food, cleaner

Learning to live with one another is a factor too. Social climate is a huge
factor.

All of this may be natural selection after the fact, but above you stated
that we are becoming more perfect physically, resulting in a lengthening
life span. But take away ALL the technology and watch how fast people die
off. Physically, or intellectually, I do not believe we have changed much in
the past 3500 years. I believe the intelligence has been there for a long
long time, but knowledge is gained a little piece at a time. I have seen
those who have lived all their life in underdeveloped areas. The strength
and moral character of their society and everyday factors have a lot more to
do with their life span than the technology at their disposal. It has taken
us an untold number of years to get to where we got roughly 200 hundred
years ago without electricity or a true understanding of how our bodies
work. Since then, technological advances have been happening at an alarming
rate. Some good, some bad, depending on the moral quality of those doing the
discovering/inventing.
And on a side note, how many people do you think understand how to create a
source of electricity? Or know how to build an internal combustion engine
off the top of their head?
Being a couch potato and clicking the TV on with the remote does not signify
intelligence, it signifies the opposite, apathy. I say apathy because people
learn to rely on stuff doing all the work for them. They quit being
pro-active, and start becoming complacent.
Technology may help us to survive, but it sure helps us to kill ourselves
off too. Guns, Nukes, Alcoholism, Pollution, Drugs, etc.
Yin and Yang...
Obviously intelligence and common sense are not inter-related.
But this is a different argument.
Cheers.

There are plenty of people who know the technology.

Why is a longer lifespan relevant to the question of "perfection"?
It simply is not part of the definition of "perfection" that one have
an infinite lifespan.
That may be an attribute of the supposedly perfect Christian deity,
but if the human population had infinite lifespan, the quality of life
on this planet would quickly become quite a bit less perfect.
Infinite lifespans are only of use to those without physical bodies,
and there is no sign that our bodies are evolving into non-physicality
as our lifespans increase.

Allen Garner from Illinois asked the14thdisciple:
"Why did Jesus choose loaves and fishes with which to feed his
followers? Why not a nice burger or something?"
mister Alan, the aroma of a Macdonalds is much the same as a recently
completed male masterbation, and - true, A Big Mac wouldst have made a
tasty change to Haddock, but he choase fish on the Beleaf that wommen
masterbaited much, much less than men, and that eaven when they did
peapel found the smell somhow moar attractive.

rememembered a certain Parrable he knew EXATCLY what to feed to the
hungary Peapel ! the Jeasus was a Master storyteller, mister Allen, and

THE PARRABEL oF THE fISHTMONGER
.... and a Traveller came from the east bearing a weathy cargo of exotic
fish, and was weary, and Jehosophat, seeing his stooped and tired form,
bade for him to be seated at the fire.
"Rest ye, here by my side this eve, for the night grows darker, and
cold shall surely numb thy bones". But the traveller shook his head and
said "No, for I fear that whist I rest thou mayest mess with my exotic
fish".
"No no," said Jehosophat, "I fear only for your health, and it is the
Charity of The Lord I offer. Look, by way of proof, eat with me this
eve" and thereupon offered up a plate to the hungry stranger. "No"
sayeth the stranger again "for I fear that whilst I eat thou mayest
mess with my exotic fish".
"No no," said Jehosophat, "I fear only for your health, and it is the
Charity of The Lord I offer. Look, by way of proof, drink with me this
eve" and thereupon offered up a flask to the thirsty stranger who
finally relented and drank deep.
Soon the weary stranger was fast in a peaceful slumber, whereupon the
wicked Jehosophat lifted up his robes and began to fumble around in his
pants.
Alarmed, the stranger stirred, and seeing what was happening declared
"Stop, stop! I thought you were after my fish!" to which Jehosophat
replied "Bugger the fish, I know you're hiding a Quarter-Pounder in
here somewhere!"

So, if a person that sins passes down the defects of that sin, how is
it unscientific to say that Adam and Eve's sin has passed down to us,
as well.
I don't know af anyone who has suggested that a man who sins passes on
that sin to his descendant.
Every creature would've been born corrupted by their sin and
more prone to sin (short of the glory of God).
According to your idea of original sin.
Thus, original sin is a
scientific concept, and one must defy their own understanding of
genetics and biology to say generational sin would not impact us now.
Non sequitir. You have shown no evidence that sin results in an
inheritable genetic condition. It doesn't happen simply because you
think that your doctrine is correct.

Indeed; what scientist would even use the word "sin" ?
I don't suppose this Adam and Eve couple have been reclassified as
Paranthropus.
Perhaps Mr Clifton should be !

It does not happen in a genetic sense. It happens because children learn
from their parents.
That is why it important to understand who Jesus' father IS, and what he was
trying to tell us.
He learned from the source, not a person.
Pick your parents wisely.
All through the Bible you see where it warns against respecting PERSONS. It
is called idol-worship. Look around, you can see it happening everyday. It
is like a snowball gaining speed and mass as it goes downhill.

I commend you for embracing science, as wrong as you have it, but you
are shooting yourself in the foot. The more you try to apply science
to religion the more you will defeat religion. I doubt that is your
goal.
