Pentagon preparing military deployment for war with China |
As predicted. America is manufacturing a new Cold War to keep
the Empire afloat.
Once the Americans have got China surrounded which is clearly the
intention*, any move by China to develop defence weaponry will be
described by Washington as "a threat".
In fact, China is already being described as 'a threat'.
*few notice but many of the new American bases in Central Asia
actually serve little useful purpose but to surround China. US bases
in Afghanistan provide them with access to China's borders as well
as direct frontage with Iran.
Washington Times: Pentagon 'hedge' strategy targets China
http://www.washingtontimes.com/national/20060316-114755-3306r.htm
"The Pentagon is moving strategic bombers to Guam and aircraft
carriers and submarines to the Pacific as part of a new "hedge"
strategy aimed at preparing for conflict with China, Pentagon
officials said yesterday."
"The plan calls for frequent rotations of B-2 strategic bombers to
Guam [...]. Special hangars and other deployment and maintenance
facilities are being built on Guam, a U.S. territory about 1,800 miles
from the Chinese coast."

Here's what xymphora blog says about it:
http://xymphora.blogspot.com/2006/03/next-popular-war.html
"The Pentagon is moving its chess pieces around the world to prepare
for a war with China. Despite all the talk about the ‘long war’ /
‘war on terror’, the Pentagon is voting with its pocketbook and buying
things that would not be useful to fight the ‘long war’, but are
directed specifically at fighting a war with China. China and the
United States seem headed to a conflict over energy, with American
plans to seal up the world’s hydrocarbons under total American control
running straight into understandable Chinese concerns about energy
security. Chinese internal harmony is fragile, and depends on the
plan of increasing prosperity through increasing industrialization, a
plan that would be ruined by an energy crisis or even the threat of an
energy crisis. We are seeing the beginnings of the energy conflict in
American resistance to Iranian gas supply to China. Newly announced
pipeline notwithstanding, Russia would prefer to send its energy to
Europe, and the Chinese leaders must be starting to feel the noose
tighten.
Although the war would be about oil and gas, it would probably be
nominally about Taiwan. Support for Taiwan comes right after support
for Israel in the neocon play book, and either side can find some
casus belli based on Taiwan without breaking into a sweat. The
advantages for the Republicans are enormous. Besides a permanent
place in power, just think of the size of all the corrupt military
contracts! A war the size of a China war would lead to just the type
of fascist military organization in the United States that neocons
like Ledeen drool over. A big added advantage for the United States
is that a victory over China would wipe out most of its deficit
problem. That fact alone, and the fact there seems to be no other
way out of the upcoming American financial crisis, makes the war seem
inevitable."

I doubt it. If you read xymphora's blog, he's not a warmonger at all.
But what amazes me about your comments is that you've said nothing
at all about the obvious risks that this development raises.
It's interesting that this issue is being raised because I predicted
three years ago that America was setting the scene to start a new
Cold War and I mentioned it in an essay on my blog dated Feb/2003
and still available.

Here's what xymphora blog says about it:
http://xymphora.blogspot.com/2006/03/next-popular-war.html
"The Pentagon is moving its chess pieces around the world to
prepare
for a war with China. Despite all the talk about the 'long
war' /
'war on terror', the Pentagon is voting with its pocketbook and
buying
things that would not be useful to fight the 'long war', but
are
directed specifically at fighting a war with China. China and
the
United States seem headed to a conflict over energy, with
American
plans to seal up the world's hydrocarbons under total American
control
running straight into understandable Chinese concerns about
energy
security. Chinese internal harmony is fragile, and depends on
the
plan of increasing prosperity through increasing
industrialization,
a
plan that would be ruined by an energy crisis or even the
threat
of
an
energy crisis. We are seeing the beginnings of the energy
conflict
in
American resistance to Iranian gas supply to China. Newly
announced
pipeline notwithstanding, Russia would prefer to send its
energy
to
Europe, and the Chinese leaders must be starting to feel the
noose
tighten.
Although the war would be about oil and gas, it would probably
be
nominally about Taiwan. Support for Taiwan comes right after
support
for Israel in the neocon play book, and either side can find
some
casus belli based on Taiwan without breaking into a sweat. The
advantages for the Republicans are enormous. Besides a
permanent
place in power, just think of the size of all the corrupt
military
contracts! A war the size of a China war would lead to just
the
type
of fascist military organization in the United States that
neocons
like Ledeen drool over. A big added advantage for the United
States
is that a victory over China would wipe out most of its deficit
problem. That fact alone, and the fact there seems to be no
other
way out of the upcoming American financial crisis, makes the
war
seem
inevitable."
Sounds like xymphora's the one doing the drooling..
What sounds do you hear from xymphora dumpty?
The sort of sounds made by somebody who secretly enjoys a good war.
Post a link then.
Wait... you have a fucking blog!? You??
Can't wait to see the Alexa stats...
Calm down, calm down. It's in hibernation. Nothing added since
Mar/2003.
Why not? You should bung a few things in and de-hibernate it.
Didn't abelard say that to you recently about your blog?
I might pick it up sometime ...meanwhile I have family commitments in
the UK and I'm trying to start building a new home in Brazil to leave
the UK altogether!

The family commitment above is my 89yo father who now lives alone
after my mother died two years ago. I'm his Power of Attorney and
when he pops off, executor of his estate. I can't leave the UK before
it's all cleared up and settled.
