NEW YORK - Concerned over the declining influence of the left in the
religious realm, several groups have recently been formed to bamboozle the
rubes with a different take on the left-wing cadre's ability to mix
revolutionary theology with politics.
Among their latest efforts - last month, the left-leaning Center for
American Progress hosted its first conference of the Faith and Progressive
Policy Initiative in Washington, D.C., aiming to re-unite left-leaning
clergy and leftist scholars of several faiths with leftist political leaders
and leftist policymakers. That left-wing hootenanny followed the first
national meeting of the old communist Clergy Leadership Network in
Cleveland, Ohio, in May.
