Presidential Lies: A Cherished American Tradtion
by Larry Liebuster
September 7, 2002. The media are crowding a Camp David press
conference. With British Prime Minister Blair dutifully standing at
his side, our President, looking grim, launches the White House
Education Blitz with his startling declaration: A U.N. Atomic Energy
report shows Iraq is less than six months away from completion of its
nuclear weapons program.
As if on cue, N.Y. Times Judith Miller trumpets the mushroom cloud
scenario; and so begins the media's six month long bugle call to arms
with its daily war-drum beat calling Saddam Hussein a big liar for his
claim of compliance with U.N. disarmament resolutions.
Bush produces a blizzard of official documents, even spy satelite photo
locations of banned weapons stockpiles, proving to the world that the
rogue Middle East nation which wilfully defies international law ,
flaunts all the U.N. resolutions , and is knee-deep in weapons of mass
destruction, is Iraq, not Israel, as happens to be the case.
America's famous free press allows only a brief glimpse of Husseins's
steadfast claim of compliance and counter-claim that Bush's buildup for
war is an official documents charade, a parade of fabricated photos
and falsified documents. He says Bush is a born-again liar, not he,
and that it is Bush's intent to mislead America into what has become
her favorite pastime since the decline in baseball's popularity,
waging war against defenseless nations abroad, in violation of every
applicable international law.
The rest is history. With pomp and circumstance, America regaled the
world with yet another of her undeclared, unconstitutional,
unbudgeted, trillion-dollar foreign wars, leveled Ancient Falluja to
save it; de-housed and displaced more than a million resident
insurgents -to-be; lustily sought to establish still more international
institutions of sodomy, eagerly ended the lives of well over 100,000
innocent Iraqui men, women and children, ushered in another era of
foreign military tyranny and torture, proudly proclaimed we brought
democracy , culture, women's rights, and freedom to an enslaved Muslim
nation, and duly proved which of the two leaders was telling the truth
and who was, steadily and endlessly lying through his teeth.
Laura Bush's new toast ? Before we came to the Middle East with our
wars of liberation, girls could not leave home to attend school (which
happened not to be true of Iraq). Now, with equal rights under U.S.
military political puppet rule , no one can leave home to attend
school.
