Object: Protest movement vindicated again and again and again!!
US brokers the terrorists agenda with it's illegal war on Iraq which has
become the best marketing and recruiting tool that al-Quida could ever have
hoped for! Just as the anti war lobby predicted that it would.
It's almost time for the International court to flex it's legal muscles and
begin the long process to test this illegal invasion by charging the main
players who against all advice initiated these killing fields and crimes
against humanity. If the west is NOT now seen by the world as being the
honest broker and to promote justice and fair-mindedness, our western
communities will be ravaged by mindless terrorists for 50 years or more.
In Australia the PM John Howard and the Foreign minister Minister Downer
must receive summons for crimes against the innocent, not only for their
unconditional support of the US invasion but for making the Australian
citizens direct and selective targets of terrorism by humiliating and
antagonising Arabs at the last election when the Liberal party won this
election by manipulating Australians racist tendencies and by promoting
widespread xenophobia.

WASHINGTON - The American invasion and occupation of Iraq has provided
al-Qaida with a powerful propaganda tool in its holy war against the West,
injecting new energy into the worldwide network even though many of its key
operatives are in jail or dead, its top leadership is on the run and its
sources of money are shrinking, according to international security
analysts.

How al-Qa'ida has split into dozens of autonomous, hard-to-find 'franchises'
The Afghan war was meant to deprive al-Qa'ida of the protection of its
Taliban allies and destroy it as a fighting force. But the Istanbul bombings
are the latest example of how the organisation has reinvented itself to
continue its jihad.
Al-Qai'da has proved to be a many-headed hydra. One was decapitated in
Afghanistan, with many of Osama bin Laden's senior lieutenants killed or
captured, and much of its financial resources uncovered and blocked. But the
organisation has now sprung up again in a number of countries in a
franchised form. The recent attacks in Turkey, Saudi Arabia, Chechnya and,
possibly, Iraq show that smaller organisations, often with fighters trained
in al-Qa'ida camps in Afghanistan and Pakistan, are able to carry out
operations without overt help from Bin Laden.

Al Qaeda Franchises Brand of Violence to Groups Across World
Leaders of the al Qaeda terrorist network have franchised their
organization's brand of synchronized, devastating violence to homegrown
terrorist groups across the world, posing a formidable new challenge to
counterterrorism forces, according to intelligence analysts and experts in
the United States, Europe and the Arab world.

Al-Qaeda one step ahead of the West
AS FORENSIC experts pick their way through the ruins of the two bomb sites
in Istanbul seeking clues, the question on everyone's lips is - where will
al-Qaeda strike next?
Despite waging "war on terror" for more than two years, the United States
and British governments have clearly not been able to penetrate the higher
reaches of Osama bin Laden's movement with informers or agents, making it
very difficult for them to gain positive intelligence on its future strategy
or targets.
According to intelligence sources, the regular security and travel warnings
issued by London and Washington are predominately based in communications
intercepts and fleeting sights of known "players" in bin Laden's
organisation. A host of al-Qaeda documents have been captured in Afghanistan
and Pakistan and several inmates of Guantanamo Bay have talked extensively
to their captors. This information is, unfortunately, largely historical in
nature and provides few specific clues about bin Laden's future intentions.

How come it's still only ppl who don't count who are suggesting criminal
prosecutions? How much progress has been made on the job by those lawyers
who were offering free services for prosecuting? Whose job is it to bring
charges before international courts? could you do it, for instance?

Freeing Iraq from Saddam and Afghanistan from the Taliban may have
made some enemies, but they were already the enemies of the West. But
those actions have made many friends amongst Arabs.

An international court would not find the US guilty of breaking
international law. The US was acting under UNSCR 678.

The issue of asylum seekers did not affect the election since both
major parties had identical policies on illegal entryu into Australia
and mandatory detention.

Perl did not admit that "the invasion was illegal". He made no such
statement. He has simply been quoted out of context.

Perl did not admit that "the invasion was illegal". He made no such
statement. He has simply been quoted out of context.

"In a startling break with the official White House and Downing Street
lines, Mr Perle told an audience in London: "I think in this case
international law stood in the way of doing the right thing."
" .... Mr Perle, a key member of the defence policy board, which advises the
US defence secretary, Donald Rumsfeld, said that "international law ...
would have required us to leave Saddam Hussein alone", and this would have
been morally unacceptable.
Is this the "misquote" you refer to? How is it a misquote?
