RAINBOW ALERT: SUPER REGIONAL RAINBOW GATHERING AND ACTON ANNOUNCEMENT FROM THE LIBERTY TRIBE AND THE SHUNDAHAI NETWORK |
Howdy Folks!
Whereas The Liberty Tribe of the Rainbow Family of Living Light met at
BlackRock on the shore of the Great Salty Lake last Autumn for Our Council;
And whereas there was general consensus for a Regional Gathering in the area
South of I 70 in the Spring time;
And now it being Spring time and taking a second and third vote;
We the beings of the Liberty Tribe of the Rainbow Family of Living Light,
collectively voting our hearts, and coming to a common consensus that;
That We Should Gather in May 7th thru May 16th...
That we Should abandon our Traditional Gathering Site this year for the
following reason(s)
We realized that we had a scheduling conflict with the mothers day action
for the Western Shoshone Nation and the Shundahai Network & rather than
splitting the Herd we thought it best to Apply our energy to the greater
good for the well being of mother earth and ourselves
We then took a special vote at the drumcircle in liberty park Two weeks ago
and the consensus was unanimous...
That we The Liberty Tribe of the Rainbow Family of Living should move The
Gathering Site to MERCURY NEVADA in support of the western Shoshone the
shundahai network and their efforts to stop the nuclear testing at the
Nevada test site before it starts, In support to stop the nuclear waste from
coming to the yucca mountain facility, and the reclamation of newe Segobia
for the ancestrally indigenous Peoples of the area and if that's not enough
we'll add a little zing to the weekly drum circle in sunny Las Vegas
Our energy will be respectfully applied in support of Shundahai, the western
indigenous people, with their current concerns and struggles.
Our hope is that we'll Help the Shundahai as much as we can Maybe learn a
little more about the people and have a little fun
But mostly our Wish is that Our Group will support Corbin Harney and the
actions he has planned that weekend being consensus from their own Tribal
council and that we as a group would support them in their endeavors that
weekend.
At this point I'll let Pete explain a little more what we have planned (Pete
Is Executive director of the Shundahai Network and works dirctly with
leaders from the Gosute and western shosoan people for resoulouion of
intertribal issues. take it away pete...
Special thanks to the Liberty Tribe of the Rainbow Family for supporting
this year's action.
The consensus of the Liberty Tribe is to relocate the annual regional
Rainbow Gathering from its traditional location in Eastern Utah to a
super-regional location near the vicinity of Mothers Day Peace and Action
Camp Near Mercury, Nevada. The Rainbow Family has also done massive outreach
in support of the Mothers Day event.
Corbin Harney, spiritual leader from the Western Shoshone Nation, has asked
that we unite all people together to support the Indigenous resistance to
nuclear weapons testing at the Nevada Test Site. The situation is going
critical (pun fully intended).
The Bush Administration has already budgeted to enhance readiness at the
Test Site. The Indian Claims commission process is also kicking into high
gear. If Bills currently going through congress are allowed to pass, the
Western Shoshone would be forced to accept pennies for over 24 million acres
of land they never sold, in the heart of which is America's Nuclear weapons
testing facility, and what could be the world's largest high-level nuclear
waste dump At Yucca Mountain.
As a result of these conditions, the Western Shoshone Nation has endured
three full scale armed field invasions over the past three years at the
hands of the US government. These have occured at the same time as
congressional hearings have taken place, which Western Shoshone defenders
have either been shut out of- or, in order to keep them "occupied" (as it
were), have suffered with their lands and livelihood under armed U.S.
invasion and constant surveillance.
We need your help.
The Rainbow Gathering is scheduled from May 7th- May 16th. The Shundahai
Network asks that participants in the Rainbow Gathering recognize that they
will be gathering on Western Shoshone Land and that respect for Western
Shoshone customs and protocols will be expected and firmly observed in the
Mothers Day weekend peace and action camp. Alcohol, drugs, public sexual
indiscretion, and weapons are strictly prohibited. For urgent political
reasons, the Rainbow Gathering is being conducted WITHOUT formal sanction of
the Western Shoshone National Council or Shundahai Network. All the same,
support for the Mothers Day actions is welcome and encouraged.
