John Manning doesn't promote the use of mind altering drugs.

I think this movie is a classic because it portrays the typical over
reaction of conservative prudes who sell their ideology through FEAR
rather than facts or viable solutions. This theme has repeated itself
over and over again and has shown itself to be uninformed and
hypocritical, over and over again.

Another classic example would be the FEAR-driven McCarthyism of the 50's.

Today, every American is considered to be a potential terrorist unless
they support incompetent George. FEAR and uncertainty underlie the Bush
strategy. Karl Rove depends on it to get little scripted George elected.

Truth never materializes out of FEAR. This is [or should be] abundantly
clear to anyone with eyes and ears who actually looks at the RESULTS of
Bush's campaign against terror which actually has INCREASED terrorism.
